Mobile Bible School (MBS)

Vision of the School

The Mobile Bible School is a component of EPC desired to provide basic


theological education on biblical principles for serving, intending pastors and
the gospel message in the rural areas of Sierra Leone. This training and
gospel message fosters to development the intellectual, gospel propagation
and spiritual maturity of leadership potentials for the Rural Churches in
Sierra Leone (RCSL)

Purpose

1. To reach rural pastors and intending pastors with theological training


at their door step.

2. To enable rural pastors have rich reading resources

3. To reach more rural people at the same time with the gospel through
songs and Christian films.

4. Enable people to read the Bible in their own local dialect.

5. Distribute track to rural and urban area reading people.

6. Provide internet facilities for rural pastors

7. Design training programs for pastors on how to institute, build and


develop Home Cell.

8. Design special programs on how to reach the growing Muslim


population in the Country with the gospel message.

9. For trained pastors the School will serve as a Refresher Course.

10. Introduce and extend biblical theology to pastors from other


denominations.

Components of the School

The School would be made up with the following materials

1. Materials on Theological Education by Extension (TEE)

2. A library for leading out books to rural pastors

3. Adult literacy materials

4. Materials on local languages training in-order to train Church Members


how to read and write their own local language. The end result to have
members read the Bible in their own dialect

5. Materials based on Reformed theological (Biblical Theology)

Materials

The Mobile Bible School is to reach rural Pastors, Christians and the
unreached people; therefore it will require the following material.

1. Modules for the TEE Course

2. Library Books

3. Trained personnel

4. A vehicle

5. Projector for Film show

6. Internet Modem

Funding

Reformed Theological School is a reformed based School wishing to work


with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Sierra Leone and other
related Christian Organization to raise the funds and Christian materials (film
projections, books magazines, journals, tracks and other related materials)
in percentages.

Duration – the program would be started on an experimental base for a


period of one year, it would be evaluated if proven then some aspect of the
training would design as a course with which certificates could be awarded.

PROPOSED PROGRAMME

1) Pastor re-educational / Continuous programme or Pastor’s
Equipping Programme.
2) Leadership Training Course
2. Development of curriculum,
curriculum are focus on theoretical subjects more than practical one,
therefore they can’t produce effective and influential pastors for
Churches.
I want to review our RTS curriculum by this view and re-arrange our
curriculum, I will share some ideas with you later.

LEADERSHIP TRINING COURSE

1. NEED OF THE COURSE

There are many Christians in the Church, but most of them are mere
Church-goer, not trained, not

able (willing) to take part of Church works, therefore all ministries of Church
are left with pastor(s)

alone who are always over- burdened and can’t be effective. The RTS opens
a ‘leadership training

course’ by which many Christian who desire to serve Church and God can be
trained and equipped.

2. GOAL OF THE COURSE

1) Applicant understands ‘Church’ on Biblical perspective

2) Applicant understand the basic Biblical foundation

3) Applicant get training for character building to be a leader

4) Applicant learn right leadership theoretically as well as practically

3. QUALIFICATION OF APPLICANT

1) One who has completed junior secondary school education (BECE)

2) One who has assurance of Salvation

3) One who has been baptized for more than 2 years

4) One who is able to use English (read, write and understand)

5) One who has desire and commitment to serve his / her Church

6) One who belongs to EPC Church (priority) and other evangelical


Churches

4. ENTRY PROCESS & TERM PERIOD

Entry Process: Application, Pastor’s Recommendation Form, Interview

Term Period: 1st Term: Jan. – Mar. 2nd Term: Apr. – Jun. 3rd Term: Sep.
– Nov.-

5. DURATION and PERIOD OF THE COURSE

Duration: 2 year course (18 credit hours),

Period: Every Friday 4-7 pm (3 hours), 3 Terms/year (13 weeks x 3)

* at the end of each term, there will be 2 days retreat, all students must
attend

6. MAIN SUBJESTS OF THE COURSE

Bible survey(3), Systematic Theology(3), Leadership Requirement I


(Biblical )(3),

Leadership Requirement II ( Practical )(3), Character Building I & II(3),


Leader’s Life Style(3)

7. RESULT OF THE COURSE : The one who completes this course


successfully

1) will be awarded “CERTIFICATE OF LEADERSHIP TRAINING” by EPC &


affiliate.

2) will be exempted from eldership examination (only be required few core
subjects for elder)

3) will be given an opportunity to apply for the “Lay Pastor Training Course”
(1 year course)

( the one who succeed this course “Lay Pastor Certificate” will be given,
and can start ministry.)

PASTOR’S CONTINUOUS EDUCATION / RE-EDUCATION PROGRAMME

1. NEED OF THE PROGRAMME

Many so- called ‘pastors’ nowadays are struggling in their Church ministry
because they haven’t

gone through any official pastoral training course and equipped properly.
EPC has realized the

need of help for such pastors around Waterloo area. Therefore RTS desires
to opens a programme

in which many pastors can get opportunity to be trained and equipped


Biblically and Theologically

as well as practically as Church worker.

2. GOAL OF THE PROGRAMME

1) to establish a Theological Foundation on the applicant

2) to help the applicant to understand the Bible better way

3) to help the applicant to understand ‘Church’ from the Biblical principle

4) to help the applicant to understand Church ministry practical way

5) to build the Biblical characters on the applicant

3. QUALIFICATION OF APPLICANT

1) who has been serving a Church as worker more than one year

2) who has completed Junior secondary school (BECE))

3) who can use English (read and write and understand)

4) who has desire to serve Church right way ( not necessary as full time
worker )

4. STUSENTNUMBER & ENTRY PROCESS & TERM PERIOD

1) Student : 20 each class

2)Entry Process: Application, Self Introduction, Interview

3)Term Period: 1st Term; Jan – Mar. 2nd Term; Apr. – Jun. 3rd Term; Sep.
– Nov.

5. DURATION AND PERIOD OF THE PROGRAMME

1) Duration: 2 year course (24 credit hours),

2) Period: Every Monday evening (4-8 pm), 3 terms yearly (13 weeks per
term)

one who goes throughout this programme successfully will be given


‘Diploma in pastoral ministry’
