Lesson reflection (Model division)

Lesson outcome: Students will be able to Model division and draw an equal group to find the
answer.

Date: 19-10-2020

1. Identify a specific feature of the lesson?

Everything was prepared \ lesson plan, PowerPoint online games.

· Starting the lesson with a video which have to get student’s attention.

· Using visual aid which are pictures to show students meaning for key vocab and
multiplication equation.

· Using online learning activity that worked very with the students.

· There were no misbehaving students.

· Students completed their activity and upload their scour in teams.

2. Who is the lesson for?

· This lesson was for grade3Fand 3E

3. Where did the lesson take place?

· The lesson take place in online Math session for 3F and 3E.

4. What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?

· I was achieving my lesson goal, in end of lesson students will be able to model division and
draw an equal group to find the answer.

What did the students do?

· At the beginning of the class, students were engaged and motivated with the video, all
students were listening to my instruction, there were no misbehaving. After looking at the
video students, during the lesson I ask them WHY questions students were answering the
quotations. After that we start our lesson. and in the end of lesson I put the quizzes link ask
the students to answer the questions and upload the result in teams.

Why do you think the student responded the way that they did?

· I was following the Gradual release model of responsibility. The lesson was step by step. (I
do) Firstly, I started the lesson by introducing the meaning Division and we going to divide
use equal groups. I have provided some examples. Presenting pictures is the key to students'
understanding. I present a video that has some examples Division using equal group.
Secondly (I do you help), I had the activity dividing using equal group, I ask them from what
them what you think how many groups we need and how many dots in each group. Thirdly,
(you do I help) the following activity was students have to draw 40 cupcakes and 8 kids, and ask
the students, divide the cupcakes equally between the kids. How many cupcakes does each kid get?
Fourthly, (you do it together), when I opened the online game, their students were answering
all the questions. Fifthly (you do it alone), students were able to complete the last assessment
individually which was online game.

5. How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?

· Students before the lesson were able to Before student were learning about repeating
subtraction., and in this lesson, they are going to learn divide using equal groups.

6. How well did you engage the students?

· I have engaged the students, in the begging of lesson I ask the students, Teacher will draw 6
apples and ask the students to divide the 6 apples into groups of3.How many will be in each
group? I engage the students by asking them WHY question such as, how many groups do
we need? how many apples in each group ?

Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective?

· Before student were learning about repeating subtraction.

7. Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Why not?

· yes, my goal was to achieve my Outcome goal, work on identify to Divide using a equal
groups so in the end of lesson students upload their result. And divide the lesson equally
and work on all parts I planned for, so we start with modeling and induction, activity and
end with Formative assessment.

8. What are the implications for your professional practice?

· Was punctual, using multiple activities, Online game, be in class on time. Ask questions
about how my MST wants me to teach the lesson, discuss with my MST and MCT about how
I need improve my lesson in future.

9. what I need to improve in my future lesson plan I will use more collaborate activities such
as padlet, online white boards.
