1. Anju pays 12% of his income towards taxes. If his annual income is
Rs.420000, find the amount paid by him as tax.
2. Aniket scored 75% marks in an examination. If he scored 450 marks, find
the maximum marks.
3. Priyanka obtained 372 marks out of 600 and Pooja obtained 450 marks out
of 750 in an examination. Whose performance is better?
4. Jadish got 64% marks out of 750. How many more marks are needed to
score 80%.
5. A man loses 20% of his money. After spending 25% of the remaining, he
has Rs.510 left with him. How much money did he originally have?
6. On a particular day, 8% of the students in a class remained absent. If 46
were present on that day, find the total strength of the class.
7. A school has 1800 students on its roll, 40% of whom are girls. How many
boys are there in the school?
8. Find the gain & gain percent, when:
(a) Cost Price = Rs.600 Selling Price= Rs. 750
(b) Cost Price = Rs.6000 Overhead expenses = Rs.400
Selling Price = Rs.8000
(c) Selling Price = Rs.1200 Cost Price = Rs.1000
9. Find loss & loss percent when:
(a) C.P.= Rs.700 S.P. = Rs. 658
(b) C.P. = Rs. 3600 S.P. = Rs. 3060
(c) C.P. = Rs. 3800 Overhead Expenses – Rs. 200 S.P. = Rs. 3500
10. Radha purchased a second – hand bicycle for Rs.1200 and spent Rs. 300 on
its repairs. She sold it for Rs.1860. Find her gain or loss percent.
11. A shopkeeper buys 100 eggs for Rs. 250. Out of these, 10 eggs were found
to be broken. He sold the remaining eggs at the rate of Rs.40 per dozen.
Find his gain or loss percent.
12. The cost price of 11 articles is equal to the selling price of 10 articles.
Findthe gain percent.
13. The cost price of an item is Rs.50. It was sold at a profit of 12%. Find the
selling price.
14. Find the selling price of an article for which cost price is Rs.750 and gain is
8%.
15. Find the amount on Rs. 1800 for 1year 8 months at 6% per annum.
16. A sum of Rs.6050 is borrowed at 6.5% rate of interest per annum. Find the
interest and the amount to be paid at the end of 3 years.
17. In how many years will Rs.1000 amount to Rs.1300 at 6% per annum?
18. Find principal when the amount is Rs.3600 and interest is Rs.200.
