System Requirement
For optimal performance of UBS products, please check through your PC to meet the minimum
system requirements as below.
a) Single user
Intel Pentium IV 1GHz processor or equivalent
1 GB of RAM or higher for Windows XP Service Pack2; 2 GB of RAM or higher for Windows
Vista
800 MB available disk space (100 MB for installation, 200 MB for each data folder, 500 MB for
.Net Framework)
Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2, Windows Vista
Network card running on TCP/IP protocol (required for RSS feature only)
CD-ROM drive (For installation only)
Windows compatible printer
Microsoft Excel and Word 2000 or higher
Microsoft .Net Framework 2
Note: Windows 2000 Pro, Windows 2000 Server below and Windows 98 are NOT officially supported.

Software Installation
1. Insert the UBS installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait for the UBS Software Installation
Menu to appear. If the installation menu does not appear automatically, select the CD-ROM drive
in My Computer or Computer and run the Setup.htm.
2. In the Installation menu, select the UBS program that you want to install.

4. After the UBS program has been selected, the installation window will be prompted. On the
License Agreement page, read and select I accept the terms in the license agreement,
and then click Next.

8. On the Choose Start Menu Folder page, click Install to start the installation.
9. After the installation has been confirmed, the installation will be started.

4. On the License Agreement screen, read and tick “I accept the terms in the license
agreement” to accept the terms and conditions, and then click Next.

9. After request file has been generated, “Request file generated!” dialog box will be prompted,
and then click OK.
Online Activation
1. After the request file has been successfully generated, the below message will be prompt. Click
Yes.
2. Enter the SNO and Activation code provided. Browse for the license request file generated
previously. Then, click Activate.
3. After the license has been activated, “Successfully activate license.” message will be prompted.

For multi-users environment, select Network option, enter the IP of the server and port
no. – 3737, then click OK. Quit from UBS system. Stop and restart the UBS Licenses
Service via [Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services].

7. Log in again, Malaysia Edition and the license SNO will be displayed on the login screen.
For single user environment, the login screen is as below.

3. On the Welcome to the License Activation Wizard for UBS System screen, click Next.

6. After the license has been activated, “Successfully activate license.” message will be prompted.
Click OK.
10. Log in again, Malaysia Edition will be displayed on the login screen.

5. Login again, Malaysia Edition and the license SNO will be displayed on the login screen.
At the workstation:

2. In the Installation menu, select the Service Installer for the UBS program that you want to
install.

4. After the UBS program has been selected, the installation window will be prompted. On the
License Agreement page, read and select I accept the terms in the license agreement,
and then click Next.

7. Go to [Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services], you will noticed that UBS
License Services has been installed
8. Continue to setup the server and workstation using the steps for License File Activation – Multi-
user environment in the previous chapter.

At Server:
1. Under My Computer or Windows Explorer, look for the UBS folder (e.g. ubsacc90, ubswpay90).
Right-Click the UBS folder and select Sharing and Security.
A. Simple File Sharing (Window XP Home / Pro )
IMPORTANT: Make sure you tick both Share this folder on the network and Allow
network users to change my files

Make sure to select Maximum allowed. Click Permissions, then highlight Everyone, then
tick Full Control. Then Apply.
Go to Security, then highlight Everyone, then tick Full Control. Then Apply.
Note: If Everyone does not exist, then click Add and type in Everyone.
2. Go into UBS. Under Select Company screen, add a new company, select it and let it generate the
data.
3. Go back to the Select Company screen, and change the Directory to the format of
\\servername \sharename \data folder. E.g. \\PC1\ubsacc90\data
4. Another way to determine the network directory is to use My Network Places to browse to the
server and to the UBS data folder, then copy the address and paste into UBS.

5. Under Select Company screen, click Setting, and then tick Country Setting. Change the
Standard Report Directory into a network path.
E.g. C:\UBSSTK90\REPORTS\REPORTS_TIMES_NEW_ROMAN\
change to: \\SERVERNAME\UBSSTK90\REPORTS\REPORTS_TIMES_NEW_ROMAN\
At Workstation
Install UBS on the workstation. Then under Select Company screen, add the company and directory
following the one already created in the server. Also, change the Standard Report Directory following
the directory on the server.
