Lesson Plan in Science 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. explain how respiratory system works;
b. describe the parts and functions of respiratory system where air passes
during inhalation and exhalation;
c. demonstrate appreciation on the importance of taking good care of the
lungs; and
d. use a model to demonstrate inhalation and exhalation.

A. Preliminary Activities

B. Motivation
 The students will be shown a video presentation entitled “The Path
of Air in my Body”.
C. Analysis
 The students will be asked the following questions:
1. What are your observations from the video presented?
2. Where do you think the air first enters into the body?
D. Abstraction
 The teacher will give a lecturette about the respiratory system.
 The teacher will present the parts of the respiratory system and let
the students give its functions.
 The teacher will present examples of hygiene to practice in order to
take care of the respiratory system.
E. Application
 The students will be grouped into four (4).
 Each group will be asked to create a model to demonstrate
inhalation and exhalation.
 Each group will use plastic canister, straw, smooth cellophane and
tapes.

IV. Evaluation
 The students will be asked to answer the following questions in a ½
crosswise:
1. What organ/s is/are responsible for the exchange of gases
inside our body?
2. It is where the exchange of gases takes place.
3. What organ holds the lungs in place?
4. It is where the air enters and exits the body.
5. What do you call the tube-made of cartilage rings?

V. Agreement/ Assignment
 The students will be asked to answer the following question and
write down their answers in a ½ crosswise:
a. Give at least 5 causes of different respiratory diseases and its
treatments.
