Lesson Plan in Grade 8

Earth and Space

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. describe the different weather instruments used in weather forecasting;
and
b. present a weather report through personal observation of the current
weather condition.

 The teacher will play a song entitled “The Weather Song” and the
students will sing along.
C. Analysis
 The students will be asked the following questions:
1. Has anyone seen, heard or read an actual weather forecast?
2. Can anybody give some of the details given in a weather
forecast?
3. How do weather forecasters know the weather?
4. What is weather forecasting?
D. Abstraction
 The students will be asked ideas about weather forecasting.
 The teacher will discuss how weather forecasts are done.
 The teacher will discuss the methods of weather forecasting from
ancient time to present time.
 The teacher will give examples of weather forecasts.
 The teacher will let the students view a video regarding weather
forecasts.
 The teacher will ask the students about who studies the weather.
 The teacher will ask the students where weather forecasts are
acquired.
 The teacher will discuss the different instruments used in weather
forecasting.
E. Application
 The students will be grouped into five.
 Each group will be asked to make report on weather forecast.
 Each group will be given five minutes to present their outputs.

IV. Evaluation
 The students will be given a 10-item identification test.
 The students will choose their answers from the box filled with different
words given by the teacher.
 The students will write down their answer in a ¼ sheet of paper.

V. Assignment/Agreement
 The students will be asked to read about the NON-PLANET members
of the solar system and define the following:
a. Comet
b. Meteoroids
c. Asteroids
