misread as 48 and 65 instead of the actual marks i.e. 72 and 61 respectively. Find the correct average?

Solution 1: ​correct sum = 68 x 20 + 72 + 61 – 48 – 65 = 1380


Therefore, the average would be = 1380/ 20 = 69

Total number of Boys in A, C & E = 462+290+150 = 902

Answer: 4

Solution:
Number of Girls who went to college A = 315
Number of Boys from College E = 150
Ratio = 315:150 = 21:10

Solution:
Present age of D = x years
Present age of C = (x+9) years
(x+9) + 10 = 2(x-10)

does a table cost?

Solution:
Let cost of Table be x
Let cost of Chair be y
2x+3y = 3500 ------ (1)
3x+2y = 4000 ------(2)
x=1000
y=500

Q 9. ​Three numbers are in the ratio 4 : 5 : 6 and their average is 25. Which is the larger number?

Answer: 3

Solution:
Let the numbers be 4x, 5x and 6x
(4x+5x+6x) / 3 = 25
5x = 25
x=5
so, the largest number = 6x = 6×5 = 30

Q 10.​ A trader mixes 26 kg of wheat at Rs. 20 per kg with 30 kg of wheat of other variety at Rs. 36 per
kg and sells the mixture at Rs. 30 per kg. What is his profit per cent?

Answer: 3

Solution:
Cost price of 56 Kg wheat = Rs. (26 x 20 + 30 x 36) = Rs. (520 + 1080) = Rs. 1600
Selling price of 56 kg wheat = Rs. (56 x 30) = Rs. 1680
Profit% = (80/1600) x 100 = 5%
