REFLECTION:

Much has been written about the new normal in the society as the COVID-19 Pandemic
continues to spread in different countries around the world. The new normal will involve higher
levels of health precautions. Fearing another wave of infections, governments will continue to
enforce strict measures to contain the spread of the virus.
In the education sector, schools and universities are now scrambling to enable digital and technical
infrastructures that will support whatever form of virtual learning that they will most likely to
adopt. Right now, online learning has been pushed further and deeper as a solution that addresses
the challenges of learning continuity amidst school closure at this time of the pandemic. Video-
conferencing, which is being used to replicate face-to-face instruction, has even made Zoom a
household name.
All of this sudden change overwhelmed me, I never would I thought that it will happen,
not to this extent. It became a big challenge for me to study and learn in this set-up, I was always
so used in writing in my notebook, listening in lectures, doing group projects, and many more
interactive activities. Now, all of our lectures and activities are done through on online. I thought
it would be easier but there are a lot of technical difficulties like slow internet connection and
lagging of the device. I admit the it affected my physical and mental health, the thought not
submitting my requirements on time, scares me. I would always think that I would fail my
subjects, it was hard but gradually as the months go by I am slowly starting to get used to it.
Though I feel like I'm not getting a good amount of social interaction from my peers, I slowly
find online learning to be much more beneficial for me as a student especially during the
pandemic. Not being in the pressurized environment of a classroom gives me the opportunity to
learn at my own pace, whether that be faster or slower than the original classroom, and if
clarification is needed, I can simply rewind the lecture videos my teachers are putting out, or
send an email to my teacher quickly and efficiently and most of all I can assure that I am safe
and low chances of getting infected. I would love to have online learning integrated into the
natural university like environment, seeing as I am getting so much more done in such a shorter
time, and I feel like I'm actually learning the material and not just grazing over it like I would in
a standard classroom.
Sometime when I have problems in my daily life, I think of them as challenges to
overcome. When you overcome those challenges, I know that you will feel good about it. I
believe that no one should challenge a problem in their daily life. Life consists of experiences,
challenges, and achievements; all of which are building blocks that essentially create one’s path to
success. In one’s lifetime they can experience tough and difficult challenges. And these challenges
become unbearable, especially when the odds are against you. However, going against all odds is
something everyone is capable of doing, and overcome these challenges everyone needs to have a
“never quit” attitude in life. If we develop it, we'll overcome quite a bit. Many people all around
the world face challenges and obstacles every day in their daily lives.
