PROCEDURE TEXT
A. KD : Menganalisis fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks
prosedur lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait manual
penggunaan teknologi dan kiat-kiat (tips), pendek dan sederhana, sesuai dengan bidang
keahlian dan konteks penggunaannya

C. LEARNING MATERIAL
 Definition of Procedure Text :

 Procedure text  is a text that is designed to describe how something is


achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how
people perform different processes in a sequence of steps. This text
uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. It also uses the
temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc

 Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation manuals
e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax.
 Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science
experiments, road safety rules.
 Texts that deal with human behavior, e.g how to live happily, how to succeed

 Generic Structure of Procedure Text


 Goal : (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
 Material or Ingredient : (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil,
etc. )Step : (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, …., second cut the onions becomes slice.
..)

 Purpose of Procedure Text

 To tells how something was made or done in time order and with
accuracy

 To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of


actions or steps.
 To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something

 Language Feature of Procedure Text:


 Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail
the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
 Using action verbs, e.g : make, take, boil, cook
 Simple Present Tense
Procedure text uses simple present tense because in this text there are facts
sentences regarding the making or use of something.
 Imperative Sentence
The imperative sentence begins with the verb. For example heat, mix, add,
plug in, put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . .etc.
 Connectives
This word is a link between one sentence and another. For example, firstly,
secondly, finally, stc.
 Adverbs
Used to provide time and method information. For example, in 10 minutes,
slowly, etc.

Contoh Procedure Text:

How To Make Ice Lemon Tea

Ingredients:

 1 bag of Teabag
 2 pieces of Lemon Orange
 2 tsp of sugar
 6 Ice Cubes
 50 ml of hot water
 150 ml of cold water

Steps:

1. Brewed Tea bag in 50 ml of hot water.


2. Add sugar, and then stir until evenly distributed.
3. Squeeze the lemon. Then, pour lemon juice into the tea.
4. Add ice cubes and add 150 ml of cold water.
5. Stir until the lemon juice mixes with the tea.
6. Add lemon slices as decoration.
7. Ice Lemon Tea is ready to be served.

HOW TO MAKE NASI UDUK

INGREDIENTS :
– 2 cups of rice
– 2 cups of coconut milk
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 pandan leaf
– 1 jeruk purut leaf
– 1 salam leaf
– 1 lemon grass

UTENSILS :
– pan
– big pot
– steamer
– rice paddle

COOKING METHOD :

1. Cook the coconut milk with all the other ingredients except
the rice.
2. Meanwhile, wash the rice in another big pot.
3. When the coconut milk comes to a boil, pour it in the pot filled with rice and stir
frequently until all the liquid is absorbed.
4. Move the rice to a steamer until it is cooked.
5. Take out the leaves before serving.

PRESENTATION :

1. Serve hot on a platter with shredded omelet and a mixture of


fried peanuts and fried onions.
2. Garnish the platter with sliced cucumber, tomato and green
leaves. This recipe makes 4 servings.

HOW TO CLEAN A REFRIGERATOR

1. Remove all frozen foods and ice cube trays. If you have a second refrigerator, use it
to temporary store these items. If not, put the food in a cardboard box and cover it
with newspaper. Dump the ice cubes.
2. Removes all other food stuff and place on your kitchen counter or in cardboard
boxes.
3. Either turn the temperature control "defrost" or unplug the electricity to the
refrigerator (or both).
4. Never scrape or jab at the ice with a sharp instrument. You may cause serious
damage to the freezing unit. Allow it to melt.
5. Either put a flat pan under the freezer to catch the drips or put a large towel in the
bottom of the refrigerator.

You will need:


• 2 cups of rolled oats

• 1 cup of plain flour
• 250 grams of butter
• 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Steps:
1. Turn on the oven 160o C.
2. Lightly grease an oven tray.
3. Mix oats, flour and sugar in a large bowl.
4. Melt butter and golden syrup in a pan.
5. Mix baking soda and boiling water in a cup.
6. Add this mixture to melted butter and golden syrup.
7. Add this to the oats mixture in the large bowl, mix together well.
8. Roll table spoonfulls of the mixture into balls. Put on the try 5 cm apart.
9. Press lightly on top of each with a fork.
10. Bake for 20 minutes.

How to make a pencil case

Steps:
 Choose the size you want. If you want to put longer items, such as a ruler, placed in
your pencil case, you'll need a longer pencil case.
 Find a bag or box that suitable with your choice of size. It doesn't have be nice
looking, but strong and clean.
 Cover the box with paper, any color.
 Decorate the container. Try some or all of the following ideas.
 Put on same cool sticker.
 Decorate with your own art with makers: draw lines, shapes, animals, people, etc.
 Cut some magazine pictures and stick them on it.
 Totally cover the box with wrapping paper; and Glue on shells, buttons, or anything
else you want to decorate the pencil case with. Add glitter if you like.
 Show all your friends, and be proud of your unique pencil case.
