Genesis 12:1 Yahweh said to Abram,

'Leave your country, your kindred and your father's house
for a country which I shall show you;
2 and I shall make you a great nation,
I shall bless you and make your name famous; you are to be a blessing!

Jeremiah 1:4 The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:

5 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
before you came to birth I consecrated you;
I appointed you as prophet to the nations.'
6 I then said, 'Ah, ah, ah, Lord Yahweh;
you see, I do not know how to speak: I am only a child!'
7 But Yahweh replied, 'Do not say, "I am only a child,"
for you must go to all to whom I send you
and say whatever I command you.
8 Do not be afraid of confronting them,
for I am with you to rescue you, Yahweh declares.'
9 Then Yahweh stretched out his hand and touched my mouth,
and Yahweh said to me:
'There! I have put my words into your mouth.
10 Look, today I have set you over the nations and kingdoms,
to uproot and to knock down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.'

Isaiah 6:8 I then heard the voice of the Lord saying:

'Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?'
And I said, 'Here am I, send me.'
9 He said: Go, and say to this people,
"Listen and listen, but never understand!
Look and look, but never perceive!"

Luke 126 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called
Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin's
name was Mary.
28
He went in and said to her, 'Rejoice, you who enjoy God's favour! The Lord is with you.' 29 She
was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean,
30
but the angel said to her,
'Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God's favour. 31 Look! You are to conceive in your womb
and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called Son of the
Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; 33 he will rule over the
House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.'
34
Mary said to the angel, 'But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?'
35
The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will
cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. 36 And I
tell you this too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom
people called barren is now in her sixth month, 37 for nothing is impossible to God.'
38
Mary said, 'You see before you the Lord's servant, let it happen to me as you have said.'
And the angel left her.

John 1:35 The next day as John stood there again with two of his disciples, Jesus went past, 36
and John looked towards him and said, 'Look, there is the lamb of God.'
37 And the two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
38 Jesus turned round, saw them following and said, 'What do you want?'
They answered, 'Rabbi' -- which means Teacher-'where do you live?'
39 He replied, 'Come and see';
so they went and saw where he lived, and stayed with him that day.

Galatians 1:15 But … God, who had set me (Paul) apart

from the time when I was in my mother's womb,
called me through his grace and chose 16 to reveal his Son in me,
so that I should preach him to the gentiles,

Isaiah 43:1 And now, thus says Yahweh,

he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel:
Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name, you are mine.
2
Should you pass through the waters, I shall be with you;
or through rivers, they will not swallow you up.
Should you walk through fire, you will not suffer, and the flame will not burn
you.
3
For I am Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.
34
Mark 8:34 He called the people and his disciples to him and said,
'If anyone wants to be a follower of mine,
let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me.

John 15:16 You did not choose me, no, I chose you;
and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last;
so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.

Colossians 3:12-14
As the chosen of God, then,
the holy people whom he loves,
you are to be clothed in heartfelt compassion,
in generosity and humility,
gentleness and patience.
Bear with one another;
forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against
another.
The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same.
Over all these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.

Ephesians 1:3-14 3 Blessed be God the Father of our

Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ. 4 Thus
he chose us in Christ before the world was made to be holy and faultless before him in love, 5
marking us out for himself beforehand, to be adopted sons, through Jesus Christ. Such was his
purpose and good pleasure, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, his free gift to us in the
Beloved, 7 in whom, through his blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins. Such is
the richness of the grace 8 which he has showered on us in all wisdom and insight. 9 He has let
us know the mystery of his purpose, according to his good pleasure which he determined
beforehand in Christ, 10 for him to act upon when the times had run their course: that he would
bring everything together under Christ, as head, everything in the heavens and everything on
earth. 11 And it is in him that we have received our heritage, marked out beforehand as we were,
under the plan of the One who guides all things as he decides by his own will, 12 chosen to be,
for the praise of his glory, the people who would put their hopes in Christ before he came. 13
Now you too, in him, have heard the message of the truth and the gospel of your salvation, and
having put your trust in it you have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit of the Promise,
14
who is the pledge of our inheritance, for the freedom of the people whom God has taken for his
own, for the praise of his glory.

1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But you are a chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a
personal possession to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his
wonderful light. 10 Once you were a non-people and now you are the People of God; once you
were outside his pity; now you have received pity.

Revelation 17:14 because the Lamb is Lord of lords and King of kings, he will defeat them, he
and his followers, the called, the chosen, the trustworthy.'

Matthew 28:19 Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations;
baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit,
20 and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you.
And look, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.'

Acts 20:24 But I do not place any value on my own life, provided that I complete the mission the
Lord Jesus gave me -- to bear witness to the good news of God's grace.

Luke 4:18 The spirit of the Lord is on me,

for he has anointed me to bring the good news to the afflicted.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives,
sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
19 to proclaim a year of favour from the Lord.

Acts 2:1 When Pentecost day came round, they had all met together, 2 when suddenly there
came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were
sitting; 3 and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the
head of each of them. 4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different
languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.

John 17:1-14 6 I have revealed your name to those whom you took from the world to give me.
They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now at last they
have recognised that all you have given me comes from you 8 for I have given them the teaching
you gave to me, and they have indeed accepted it and know for certain that I came from you, and
have believed that it was you who sent me. 9 It is for them that I pray. I am not praying for the
world but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. 10 All I have is yours and all
you have is mine, and in them I am glorified.
11
I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father,
keep those you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one like us. 12 While I was
with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name. I have watched over them and not
one is lost except one who was destined to be lost, and this was to fulfil the scriptures.
13
But now I am coming to you and I say these things in the world to share my joy with them to
the full. 14 I passed your word on to them, and the world hated them, because they belong to the
world no more than I belong to the world.
