HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Health Effects

Product Name : SILVER GRADE ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT

Material Safety Data Sheet Infosafe No. 1LO21 Page 4 of 8

Acute - Swallowed
Ingestion may cause stomach discomfort and vomiting. If vomiting occurs product
may be aspirated into the lungs leading to chemical pneumonitis.
Acute - Eye
Eye contact will cause moderate irritation.
Acute - Skin
Skin contact will cause moderate irritation.
Acute - Inhaled
Inhalation of vapours or mists generated at elevated temperatures will irritate
the respiratory system.
Hazards
Identification
Moderate skin, eye and respiratory irritant.
Prinicpal hazard of ingestion is aspiration into the lungs and subsequent
pneumonitis.
Chronic
May cause skin or eye irritation, dermatitis or oil acne upon prolonged or
repeated contact. Repeated and prolonged inhalation of graphite dusts may cause
pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema and pnuemoconiosis. The severity of these effects
is greatly influenced by the presence of other harmful mineral dusts, such as
crystalline silica.
Route(s) of Entry
Ingestion, inhalation.
Other Information
This product contains silicon dioxide (quartz). No exposure to free respirable
silica is anticipated during normal use of this product. It should be noted,
however, that free respirable silica has been classified by the IARC as Group 1
CARCINOGENIC TO HUMANS. Inhalation of free respirable silica may cause silicosis
or other serious delayed lung injury. Silica may be released by grinding or
machining of coated materials. Use approved dust respirator when grinding or
machining coating or coated items.

First Aid

Swallowed
Do NOT induce vomiting. Contact a Poisons Information Centre (Phone 131 126) or
a doctor at once.
Eye
If contact with the eye(s) occurs, wash with copious amounts of water for
approximately 15 minutes holding eyelid(s) open. Take care not to rinse
contaminated water into the non-affected eye. Seek medical attention.
Skin

Remove contaminated clothing and wash with soap and water. If symptoms develop
seek medical advice.
Inhaled
Remove victim to fresh air. If symptoms persist seek medical advice.
First Aid
Facilities
Eye wash and normal washroom facilities.

Advice to Doctor

Advice to Doctor
Treat symptomatically or consult a Poisons Information Centre (Phone 131 126).

Standards are guides to be used in the control of occupational health hazards.

All atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a level as is workable.
Exposure Standards should not be used as fine dividing lines between safe and
dangerous concentrations of chemicals. They are not a measure of relative
toxicity.
Eng. Controls
If misting of oil occurs or compound becomes dry ensure sufficient ventilation
to maintain airborne concentrations below exposure limits and prevent exposure
to vapours, mists, fumes and dusts.

Personal Protection

Respirator Type
(AS 1716)
If engineering controls are not effective in controlling airborne exposure then
respiratory protective equipment should be used suitable for protecting against
airborne contaminants. Final choice of appropriate breathing protection is
dependant upon actual airborne concentrations and the type of breathing
protection required will vary according to individual circumstances. Expert
advice may be required to make this decision. Reference should be made to
Australian/New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 1715, Selection, Use and maintenance of
Respiratory Protective Devices; and AS/NZS 1716, Respiratory Protective Devices.
Eye Protection
Safety glasses with side shields or goggles should be worn as described in
Australian Standard AS/NZS 1337 - Eye Protectors for Industrial Applications.
Glove Type
Neoprene, polyethylene or oil resistant plastic gloves should be worn.
Clothing
Suitable protective clothing should be worn e.g. cotton overalls buttoned at
neck and wrist.
Work/Hygienic
Practices
Ensure a high level of personal hygiene is maintained when using this product.
Always wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.

Flammability

Fire Hazards
Combustible. This product will burn if exposed to fire.
