    IV EVALLUATION

    1. Where is the setting of the story?


    - Time, place and the details that make up time and place are what contribute to the
    setting. “The Gift of the Mag” takes place in a furnished flat in New York City, the day
    before Christmas. The time of this story is important because it explains why Della and
    Jim need a present for each other
    2. Who are the Characters in the story?
    - James Dillingham (he’s also known as Jim)
    - Della Dillingham Young (Jim’s wife)
    - Madame Sofronie (The owner of the hair shop)
    3. What point of view does the narrator used? What variation of POV used (first, second, third
    person)?

    4. What is the theme of the story?
    - Jim and Della are willing to part with their most prize possession to make each other
    happy, demonstrating that a wealth of love makes up for material poverty. Some
    additional themes are generosity, selflessness, and poverty
