yesterdays’ discussion)
Ok, very good!
Have you ever tried to stargaze? Or watch Yes ma’am!
the sky at night time?
What did you saw during that time? We saw stars, falling stars, shooting stars,
comets!
Ok very good! What does comets look like? Its like a glowing straight line.
Okay, very good!

1. What does comet looks like? They are made of dust and ice.
2. Where did comets originated? During the explosion of the Big Bang
3. Who gave the name of the comets and Aristotle, meaning hair of the head
what does it mean?
4. What is the famous comet and when will it Comet Harley that will be visible in 2061
be visible?
5. What can you find beyond the orbit of the Kuiper Belt or Oort cloud.
Neptune?

EXPLORE
Okay class, I want you to draw a COMET
based on what have you learned in the video.
Describe the structure of a comet. You can
draw a comet either in these things below;
 Inside Kuiper Belt
 Going towards the sun
 Moving away the sun
 Passing near Earth
 Seen during night time

EXPLAIN
Okay class, are you done drawing? Who drew (They started raising their hand and
a comet inside a Kuiper belt? answering the question by giving their own
Why does a comet find in the Kuiper belt? insight)
Why did you say so?
How about moving towards and away the
sun? What does a comet look like?
Can you describe a comet passing through
our naked eye?
Why do you think it passes through?
Why do you think it is important to know the
existence of the comet?

ELABORATE
Comets and asteroids are referred to by
astronomers as Near-Earth Objects (NEO).
Comets are icy bodies or objects while
asteroids are rocky fragments.
They are remnants from the formation of our
solar system 4.6 billion years ago Comets and
asteroids have irregular shapes and varied
sizes. They both reflect light from the sun in
varying amounts depending on the size and
composition. The presence of more silicates
allows a comet or asteroid to reflect light.
Comets and asteroids both orbit around the
sun. This means, you can see a comet for up
to a year in the night sky. The major
difference is their origin or where they came
from in space.
