Name of the tool Explain Everything
Where to access this explaineverything.com
tool (web address)
Brief instructions of This web tool is a big whiteboard with many different gadgets. With this tool teachers and
how to use the tool students can voice record, and insert that recording anywhere on this whiteboard. Explain
Everything is great for mathematics it has a math keyboard with “x”, division sign, square
roots etc. It just makes writing math easier. It's also amazing for working together, and
brainstorming because you can also upload pictures, and write random texts, drag and drop
anything anywhere.
Ideas for how the tool Grade 3- Students will be able to make change from $5.00 or less. With this web 2.0 tool I
can be used in PK-12 will have every student pair up randomly and put the amount of change I want every pair to
show. Later they will show me another way to get the same answer. For example, let's say I
want group 3 to show me how to get $3.29 cents. Together they come up with 13 quarters,
and 4 pennies. Next they show me how to get the same answer another way so they come
up with 8 quarters, 12 dimes, and 4 pennies.
Grade 5- First I will record a voice over explaining how to solve single (x+3=15) and multi
step problems. After walking through these problems in depth, I will put them in small
groups of about 3 or 4 students each. In these small groups they will put their brains
together and come up with a single and multistep problem on the online whiteboard, both
figured out. They will be able to use the math keyboard with this assignment as well.
Challenges
- There's no place for students to leave/ take notes.
- It doesn’t say who wrote what on the board.
- Takes a while to get the whiteboard started and running smoothly.
