UNSEEN

Aldo Chaparro is a Peruvian sculptor whose artistic work is centered in

sculpture and design, best known for his works on stainless steel. He currently
lives and works between Mexico City, New York City, and Lima.

The artist is known for expanding the boundaries that separate Art from other
disciplines, making of this frontier his central theme. Through different media,
Chaparro remixes and edits references from the media world pushing aside the
notions of past and future to offer a present where simultaneity co-exists.

“ Beauty is nothing but a pale reflection of the

transcendent beauty of the Unseen.”

Together with his wood and metal works, Chaparro’s stainless steel and
aluminum sculptures manage to combine the sensual with the spiritual. They
work as a distorted reflection of the personal perception we have of our
surroundings. Through them, Aldo Chaparro highlights how beauty is nothing
but a pale reflection of the transcendent beauty of the Unseen

MARE

Italian photographer Alessandro Puccinelli divides his time between Tuscany,

Lisbon, and the southern coast of Portugal. He often takes a break from the
humdrum of life in his motorhome hideaway (his van in the sea), chasing
storms of the ocean.

“ To some extent, the sea is my guide through

life. I think of the sea as an example and source
of knowledge.”
The artist patiently waits for the perfect moment to capture the fearsome waves
that collide into the coastlines moody sky, together creating mother nature’s
fury in spectacular form. His contemporary photography captures the essence
of the sea and sky that immerses you in the fascinating depths of mystery,
magic, and beauty.

LIMITS OF THE LANDSCAPE

Alexandre Manuel was born in 1979 in the Franche-Comté region, at the border
of Switzerland and France and currently lives in Portugal.

With a doctorate in Visual Semiotics (specialized in printed photography) and

with the title of auxiliary professor of the universities obtained by the French
Ministry, Alexander chose to consecrate his life to photography.

“ My landscape portraits are above all, a love of

nature.”

In a refined style, the works of Alexandre Manuel question the status and limits
of the landscape. With long exposure techniques, natural registers highlight the
tension between absence and presence, between man and his place in nature,
between the natural evolution of the landscape and its permanence in our lives.

VIVID LIGHT

Born in the Highlands of Scotland, Forsyth’s heritage conveys his love of the
drama of nature to his work, seeking to expand and epitomize the beauty of
natural forms overlooked in everyday life showing an extra dimension with
light playing an important role in his work.

The artist creates mesmerizing, vivid images of flora and fauna exploring a
breadth of themes that are reflected in the range of techniques he employs:
analog and digital exposures taken by the artist exist in his work, alongside
computer-generated imagery, photograms, and photographic collages from
historic magazines and vintage postcards.

“ Forsyth conveys his love for the drama of

nature, seeking to expand the beauty of natural
forms that we sometimes overlook in everyday
life showing an extra dimension in his work.”

Stylish and utterly contemporary, Forsyth’s art is a poignant incorporation of

technological media and conceptual design. Forsyth’s “unusual and dramatic
artworks marry nature and modernism” with abstract, analog patterns or
sleek images of light and color, inspired by natural phenomena, emotions, or
intangible ideas.

FORM

“ I was born in a field of sculptures.”

Anachar Basbous was born in 1969 in Rachana, a village of open-air sculpture,
in a family of artists: his father, Michel Basbous, was a sculptor, and his mother
is a writer and poet. He made his first sculpture at the age of 10 years.

He completed his secondary studies in Beirut; then he went to Paris to continue

his studies at the ENSAAMA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués
et des Métiers d’Art) where he specialized in architectural wall design.

His works of art are spread in Lebanon and abroad, in public places, hotels,
private residences and gardens. They are created according to the study of the
site, the character, the personality, and the history of its locations.
He collaborates with several architects to achieve some projects made-to-
measure.

His sculptures appear in many private collections as well as in public places in

Lebanon, the UAE, France, United States and Canada.

Anachar Basbous works and creates at his workshop in Rachana where he lives

MEMORY

Araquém Alcântara, 64 years old, is considered by the critics as a forerunner

of nature photography in Brazil and one of the most important photographers
active in this country. Since 1970, he has been working full-time on the
documentation of nature and the Brazilian people.

“ My photography is memory resistance.”

His vast production includes 47 books on environmental themes, 22 books as

a co-author, five international awards, 32 national awards and 75 solo shows,
as well as countless essays and reports for newspapers and magazines in Brazil
and abroad.

The first photographer to have documented all Brazil’s national parks, he was
also the first Brazilian photographer ever commissioned to produce a special
edition for the National Geographic Society.

Araquém is a strong supporter of Brazil’s natural heritage, particularly the

Amazon Rainforest and the Atlantic Forest. It is also pointed out by critics
as one of the precursors of nature photography in Brazil as one of the most
important photographers operating in the country.

His work has garnered international acclaim and is currently a national hallmark
and source of inspiration for new photographers.

NEW REALITIES

Axel Crieger’s work aims to design new realities and to tell virtual stories
that combine a variety of photographs, designs, special effects, drawings,
soundtracks, and self–written and self–recorded narrations, which he combines
with a true sense of style to masterful compositions. His protagonists are
mostly historical personalities who are placed in a situation saturated by the
artist’s historical knowledge.

Joseph Beuys painted over one of his exhibits, signed it and declared the result
“best of the show”. Oscar winner Michael Blake published his book “American
Night”, and Muhammad Ali received “Rumble in the Jungle” for his private
collection.

Nowadays he creates his art in a virtual space, which he seldom leaves, creating
pictures of ideas, dreams, personal choices, and public perception.

His works can be found in many private and public art collections like the
Miller Collection Los Angeles, Jones Day International, Abdi Ibrahim Istanbul,
Aberdeen International, Begum Agakhan Zurich, McKinsey&Company
Moscow, Muhammad Ali Los Angeles, Ernst&Young London, EON Ag
Germany, Consulate of the Netherlands, Istanbul, Robert Lee Hong Kong,
KMP Singapore, Silvio Denz Paris, Young&Rubicam Tel Aviv, just to name a
few.

ETHEREAL

German photographer Bernhard Quade explores the influence of man on

nature and vice versa. Believing we are a product of the environment and
that it has an impact on our behaviour. His work results in an idealized vision
taking into account personal desires and life experiences. A world of transience
“transformed” through the camera lens.

Water and air, essential substances to human existence. The vastness of the
ocean and its metaphysical presence, spiritual. Ethereal landscapes ironically
took by movement and tension. Silence versus the intrinsic landscape voice.

“To show our desires, to increase these sensations I often change the contrast
and color and take multiple shots of the same subject in different lighting
conditions. I can combine these different shots to create often impossible
lighting conditions. Without human form in my work the observer is drawn
into more “space”, to enter a new romantic world which creates a silence and
tension in the spectator himself. There are no special titles to my work, just
a simple description - so the thoughts of the observer are not limited to my
words alone.”

MIRROR STONE

Carolina Gomez’s works have become known for the powerful questions they
pose about personal female identity and society’s views towards women.

The paintings focus on the female pop culture icon, impeccably recreated on
canvas with oil and with what one might consider the most important part of
the icon, the face, hidden. However, the icon’s face is not simply hidden with
just anything but with precious gems of all sorts; diamonds, quarts, topazes,
rubies, etc. The gems themselves take on a life of their own because of their
commanding vividness and technical precision.

This selection features an array of figurative paintings and collages from her
latest series “Mirror Stone”: an exploration concerned with the intersection of
power, beauty, and fashion through the juxtaposition of pop culture icons and
precious gems.

NOSTALGIC

David Burdeny is an acclaimed Canadian photographer whose travel-inspired

landscapes are characterized by unusually long exposures that result in detailed
images and soft colour studies.

Burdeny describes his photography as ‘discovery-driven’ and has traveled to

places including Antarctica, Iceland, Brazil, China, France, Italy and Cambodia
in pursuit of his work. Influenced by notable photographers such as Michael
Kenna, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Fay Goodwin, David purposefully photographs
in poor light and near darkness. He uses unusually long exposures to see
that which our eyes cannot. Moving beyond the literal, his images have been
described as ominous, haunting, and meditative.

Burdeny’s work has been exhibited internationally in numerous solo and

group exhibitions. He is the recipient of many notable photography accolades,
including Photographer of the Year in the Nature Category at the International
Photography Awards. Burdeny’s work has been extensively collected and is
included in both private and corporate collections. Most recently, editions of
his newest works have been acquired by the HBC Global Art Collection in
New York.

EPIC, DRAMATIC, CINEMATIC

In a unique manner, David Drebin’s work combines voyeuristic and

psychological viewpoints. He offers the viewer a dramatic insight into emotions
and experiences which many of us have doubtlessly felt at some point in our
lives.

The panorama of these cities, which, due to their format, are a tribute to
cinema, serve as cinematic settings. With their impressive skyscrapers, they
provide the viewer with a nearly infinite surface for the imagination.

David Drebin was born in 1970 in Canada and was raised in Toronto until he
moved to New York to study at Parsons the New School for Design. After
his successful graduation in 1996, he quickly gained a high reputation as an
international commercial and fashion photographer.

A selection of his works was published in a monograph “Love and Other

Stories” in 2007, and followed by the photo books “The Morning After”
(2010), “Beautiful Disasters” (2012) and “Chasing Paradise” (2015) with the
German publisher teNeues.

In recent years David Drebin developed into a very sought-after contemporary

artist on the art market. Having been shown in numerous exhibitions worldwide
and presented at reputable art fairs, the works have also become part of
international auctions. Drebin’s photographs are epic, dramatic and, above all,
cinematic and have been collected around the world.

NEO-EXPRESSIONIST

Artist and collector Hunt Slonem is best known for huge Neo-Expressionist
oil paintings of tropical birds based on his personal aviary.

His lavishly colored canvases are populated with rows of birds rendered with
thick brushstrokes.

“I was influenced by Warhol’s repetition of soup cans and Marilyn,” Slonem

says. “But I’m more interested in doing it in the sense of prayer, with repetition...
It’s really a form of worship.”

According to The New York Times art critic Roberta Smith, “This witty
Formalist strategy meshes the creatures into the picture plane and sometimes
nearly obliterates them as images, but it also suspends and shrouds them in a
dim, atmospheric light that is quite beautiful.” Besides the birds, Slonem also
paints repetitions of flowers, bunnies, butterflies, as well as portraits.

WORLD RECORDS

Celebrating some of the very best and most distinctive albums in music history.
In his “World Records” German artist Kai Schaefer draws from Rolling Stone
Magazine’s “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” photographing the
original vinyl pressings of iconic record albums throughout music history on
the turntables they would have first been played on.

“ What I tried to do was to create a time machine.”

As “World Records” methodically catalogs an era when the experience

of listening was more physical and tactile, it is also contemporary with the
resurgence of audiophiles elevation of the vinyl pressings as art objects.
Schaefer pays tribute to these unforgettable analog sounds and aural experiences
highlighting each groove, label, and tonearm so these images become tangible
subtly audible in their nostalgia.

SPIRIT OF THE HORSE

Inspired by the wise words of Sir Winston Churchill, who famously stated
“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of
a man,” Lisa’s artistic vision is to pursue that something in all its manifestations.
Her reductive style imparts her photographs with the power to contemplate
not only their essential physical presence but also the voluminous and generous
spirit of the horse.

Though her subjects include equines both domestic and wild, Lisa has earned
a special place among the photography elite for her ongoing chronicle of the
wild horses that freely roam the coastal environment of North Carolina’s Outer
Banks. These wild horses, registered as descendants of the Spanish mustangs,
have adapted to their often harsh environment, learning not only to survive
but also to thrive. The grassy barrier islands and tidal marshes of the Outer
Banks offer a compelling landscape in which to capture these majestic living
links to the past.

She has been featured in numerous print and online publications and, most

SPATIAL ELEGIES

Massimo Listri is a celebrated Italian photographer based in Florence whose

work often presents interiors of great architectural and cultural importance,
both iconic and unexpected. His large-scale color prints invite viewers into
the settings he frames; these include ancient castles, villas, palaces, gardens,
libraries, convents, monasteries, and universities..

“ My photography is an expression of tranquility

and silence in this chaotic society. A sense of
perspective and equilibrium. This is therapy for
the soul.”

The artworks transmit an almost deafening silence as if time had stopped,

humans had suddenly disappeared, and the only thing reminiscent is the interiors
they have left behind, the remains of their lives and their passions, their art,
and their culture. Listri uncovers the hidden beauty of inside environments
through the perfect balance of light, color, and perspective to produce visually
immersive compositions.

Massimo Listri is considered one of the most notable photographers of interiors

and architecture in the world. His works are part of numerous collections and
exhibitions in addition to being published in over 50 books and publications.

AERODYNAMICS

Manolo was born in Orange, France on a French Air Force base. Fascinated
by the world of machines, aeronautics, in particular, Manolo’s work returns to
his childhood memories: a universe made of bright aluminum, hot tarmac, and
kerosene smell. It is essential for Manolo to recapture the innocence of his
vision as a child and to reveal the wonderment he felt.

In recent years, his work has taken on a more modern aesthetic approach.
Planes, cars, spaceships are the symbol of a world constantly moving and
pushing boundaries. They are considered to be the mirror of human ambition.

“I was inspired by the powerful aesthetic imagery

of the planes, the passion and risk involved, and
the developing technology. I think there is a
strong link between air and art.”

Manolo is interested in playing with the purity of forms; as plane designs are
so fluid for aerodynamics purposes their outlines tend to be very pure and
organic. With this, he brings a new and original dimension to photography. .

OPPOSITES

Meighan Morrison is interested in opposites, how they meet and determine

each other - black-white, rough-smooth, pain-joy.

The artist paints on linen or paper laid out onto the floor which adds physicality
and spontaneity, often foiling any plan. The large scale of her stretched paintings
seeks to amplify the relief found in simplification and the basic nature of
materials speaks to the essential. She paints as a panacea for the exponential
convolution that is modern life. Or as a rebellion against it.

“I paint as a panacea for the exponential

convolution that is modern life. Or as rebellion
against it. On a good day I manage to do both.”
Meighan Morrison studied at the Boston University before attending Parsons
School of Design as an illustration major. After careers in textile design, interior
design, and children’s books she returned to painting, continuing studies at the
Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

EQUINE BEAUTY

The legendary and complex relationship between humans and horses is an

enduring one. The horse’s distinctive blend of grace and strength and its sleek
beauty has long been analyzed, admired and represented in artistic form -
whether through painting, sculpture or photography.

“So much so, that at times, it’s as if these

compelling portraits might just come to life at
any second.”
Raphael Macek’s inspiring images of equine majesty feature both close-ups
and complete figures against the backdrops of artful landscapes. His balanced
composition and exquisite lighting highlight the form, texture, and muscularity
of each unique creature.

There is liveliness, and immediacy to this collection. So much so, that at times,
it’s as if these compelling portraits might just come to life at any second.

FLORAL SECRETS

Born in Judibana, Venezuela in 1961, Ron van Dongen was raised in Warmond,
the Netherlands. He studied photography at the Academy of Art College in
San Francisco and currently resides in the United States.

His seductive black and white florals unearth floral secrets and symbols of
our alternately nurturing and perilous relationship with nature. In simple
arrangements and with masterful printing techniques, van Dongen conjures
visual sensations that can reflect the struggles and confusions of everyday life
in memorializing the beautiful, the simple, the flower.

“ Until we can comprehend the beguiling beauty

of a single flower, we are woefully unable to
grasp the meaning and potential of life itself. ”
His work is in distinguished public and private collections of art to name a
few: Microsoft Collection, Portland Art Museum, Elton John Photography
Collection and the Ritz Carlton artworks. Perhaps the most recognized and
widely collected photographer of botanical studies, van Dongen’s work has
been the subject of ten monographs and is widely exhibited and collected
throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR

TYLER SHIELDS is a photographer, film director, and writer, best known

for his unique, controversial, shock evoking captures of Hollywood celebrities.

In addition to his Fine Art photographs, he has shot campaigns for brands
like Nike, Adidas, Playboy, Harley Davidson, and Gergé Swiss watches, among
others. In 2014, the publishing of Tyler Shields book, including Smartest Man
and The Dirty Side of Glamour, the completion of his first feature-length
film, Final Girl, became huge successes. He lives and works in Los Angeles,
California.

His work has made a big impression, whether it’s his photographs of exploding
Rolls Royces, alligators clamping their jaws on Birkin bags, or starlets flying
through the air in impossibly beautiful arcs. Shields frequently combines
the world of Hollywood glamour with his love for the acrobatic, creating a
wonderful combustion of movement, color, and subject.

Shields’ work is a type of ‘dark romance’ that scales the bandwidth of image
development in the age of Google Image searches, the Internet, and a nearly
infinite source and access to moving-image making material and iconography.
The challenge is finding the right nodes toward a product or project that
captures the body from its most emaciated status of apathy to the near classical
ideal forms that captivate and engage attention and interests of our collective
gaze..

Dutch duo Van de Vamp & Heesterbeek explores the relativity of reality and
of beauty in particular. There’s a classical view on the beauty that one cannot
add anything to it nor take away from it and not make things worse. They
explore this notion through their Art where digitally manipulated images and
digitally created spacial objects are blended together.

“ Reality doesn’t always present itself the way it

really is.”

In their search Patricia and Marc explore boundaries, asking themselves time
and again how far they can wander from the classical notion of beauty without
overshooting the mark. Without it becoming gaudy or forced and still retaining
the power of the story. The technical element of their images could not have
been realized without their wide knowledge of photography and graphic
design. Their Art introduces people to a reality with a different notion of
beauty, space and time.

UNEXPECTED

Born in 1990 in Paris, Yann Houri is a French painter-sculptor.

He lives and works in Paris.

“I want to discover what I am doing at the

moment I create it, all the excitement of
painting is in the unexpected”.”
In search of a language between matter, color and movement, his works present
(de)structured compositions in a complex manner. Driven by a spontaneous
and intuitive energy, Yann Houri’s work resists easy characterization.

He devotes a large part of his reflection to the lived experience and refuses to
predict anything. For Yann Houri, the work is a discourse between the conscious
and the unconscious and only makes sense in the viewer’s free interpretation.

His work is therefore constantly evolving through the interactions he sets

up with the other. As a result, each of his creations is the fruit of his free
imagination and the permanent search for new techniques, expressions of his
perception of evolution.
