Instructions: On the box provided, draw a possible GMO. In conceptualizing a GMO, think of

the features or characteristics that you imagine is possesses and its potential impacts on society.

Be ready to share your output in class. Answer the question that follow.

Questions:

1. What is your GMO, its modified characteristics and literatures?

My GMO is a corn, its physical properties are just like an ordinary corn. However, its modification
involves insect pest sensitivity, which attained through pesticide gene expression and it has a higher
productivity than a usual corn.

2. In what ways do you think this GMO can positively impact society?

Amongst the most hazardous corn farming pest species in the country is the Asiatic corn-borer, Ostrinia
furnacalis. The effects of such pests are reduced by this GM corn. The plant also provides a practical and
environment friendly substitute for inadequate corn farmers to increase their harvest while fighting
poverty without reducing the use of pesticide. This process impacts the environment conservation and
the development of the agriculture countries.

3. What ethical issues or concerns may arise as a result of the GMO?

The possibilities of damage to the environment is yet another ethical issue for GM crops. Sadly, we don’t
know much on the environmental impacts of GM crop manufacturing process, because the innovation
remains relatively new. Long-term test are over for decades and most researches on genetically
modified crops concentrate on the short- term effects of innovation.
