COURTICE SECONDARY SCHOOL - DAY

It is just before school starts for the students of CSS, they

are all getting off the buses and walking to their classes.
The camera crew heads to portable five, it peers through the
window next to the door to see the students inside. Here
there are some students with notebooks and binders out on
their desks. Brendan is sitting without any paper or book
out, and almost falling asleep in his chair. Anderson sitting
next to Brendan is on his phone waiting for class to begin.

ANDERSON
(Laughing)
Look at this Brendan! This has to be
the best one yet!

BRENDAN
(Snoring)

ANDERSON
Hello! You in there? Look at this
picture

BRENDAN
Huh? Why are you waking me up? Class
still hasn't started yet

ANDERSON
(Laughing)
Look at this picture I found.

Anderson hands the phone to Brendan showing him a funny image

of a cat that he found on the internet.

Brendan slowly turns to face Anderson.

BRENDAN
You're kidding right!?

ANDERSON
What!? I thought it was hilarious.

BRENDAN
YOU WOKE ME UP FOR THIS!? This is the
worst picture I have ever seen. I
don't even get it! What is it supposed
to mean?

ANDERSON
(Crying from laughter)
That's the point! It is not supposed
to make any sense!
2.

The bell rings to start the day. The two pull out there
binders and start to work.

INT. COURTICE SECONDARY SCHOOL HALLWAYS - DAY

After class ended in the portable, Brendan and Anderson

headed towards their other class. On the way they are both
stopped by the camera crew and asked to be interviewed.

BRENDAN
Huh? Could you repeat that please?

CAMERA MAN
What was your first class and where
are you headed now?

BRENDAN
Ugh! Alright. What a drag. Anyway,
first I was in math class, not a good
one to have in the morning, believe
me. Now I'm headed to chemistry, today
we have a lab so at least that is
exciting.

As Brendan was done answering the crew's question Anderson's

turn began.

ANDERSON
Uh. Well if I had to say just one, I
think my favorite class would have to
be chemistry, and today's class is
even better than normal. You'll see
what I mean if you come with us.

INT. COURTICE SECONDARY SCHOOL GRADE ELEVEN CHEMISTRY CLASS -

DAY

The students set up for the lab, there are beakers and fluids
set up all around the lab benches. There are boxes with
chemicals that are going to be used to mix with the fluids,
and boxes with safety goggles for the students.

MR. CHATTEN
Alright guys listen up! This lab
includes many different chemicals that
can be mixed, there are some that you
do not want to mix together, so you
must look at the pre-lab work to see
which combinations you do not want to
make.
3.

The chemistry teacher, Mr. Chatten is asked to be interviewed

by the camera crew, he accepts and is brought into a quiet,
empty room.

MR. CHATTEN
(Slight chuckling)
Psh! Oh I don't know. I would say I've
been working here for most of my adult
life. It has been way to many years to
count, that's for sure. But about that
other question. The lab that the
students are doing today is about
chemical reactions, we've been
covering this topic all week, and now
is their chance to use what they've
learned in a fun and exciting way.

The class is now ready to start the experiments, they are all
lined up across the lab benches. As the students got ready to
begin the lab, Mr. Chatten started to write down the
instructions and steps on the chalkboard.

The lab began, and after about 15 minutes the students

started to create some chemical mixtures. When all of a
sudden there was a loud bang and the sound of something
shattering.

MR. CHATTEN
What was that!? Is everyone all right?

The camera crew move around the classroom to investigate to

figure out where the sound came from. They found a boy,
Gavin, standing at a lab bench with a broken beaker and fluid
everywhere. His face was stained black from the smoke that
rose from the broken test tube.

MR. CHATTEN
Gavin! What happened!? How could you
be so careless?

GAVIN
Sorry sir. I thought that I was
holding the water but I guess it turns
out that that was not actually water.
It's just- they were both clear
colourless solutions, I couldn't tell
which was which.

MR. CHATTEN
That is why we label them as we pour
the substances in the jars Gavin, come
4.

on, this is our fifth lab of the year,

how did you forget that?

GAVIN
(Slight chuckle while he rubs his
hand on his head)
Oops.

Gavin is taken into the emergency room located in the school,

while he cleans his face, he is asked some questions by the
crew.

GAVIN
Well you see, if you really think
about it, it wasn't my fault. I was
not the person who gathered and filled
the jars, that was Sam's job, he is
the one to blame.

The camera crew locate Sam and bring him into a room to
interview.

SAM
(Wide eyed and nervous)
Yeah... It was my job to fill the
jars, but I was never told to label
them, I figured that someone else was
going to do it. Though now I do see
why I should have been the one to do
so.

INT. COURTICE SECONDARY SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Brendan and Anderson are waiting for the lunch bell to ring,
they are both heading home for this evening as it is a half
day at the school.

The bell rings

BRENDAN
(Jumping with joy)
Finally! The day is over, long weekend
here we come!

ANDERSON
Phew! This was one of the hardest
weeks I think we've had all year.
Wouldn't you say?

BRENDAN
Yep. No doubt about it. I think I have
5.

some grey hairs coming in after all of

the stress from this week.

ANDERSON
(Putting his bag on his shoulder)
Well, I guess I'll be seeing you next
week.

BRENDAN
(Already heading out the door)
Of course! Wouldn't have it any other
way. Alright then, see ya!

ANDERSON
(Waving to Brendan)
Yep, see ya!
