Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) in Science 7 Topic/ Lesson Name Time Allotment Teacher Content Standards
Learning Objectives:
1. Distinguish plant cell from an animal cell and vice versa based on its unique parts and shape;
2. Discover other parts of a cell; and
3. Value collaborative effort through finishing activities about animal and plant cell in triad.
Elicit
Students will have a recall of the previous discussion through an activity called “Can you
recall?”.
Mechanics:
• Students will be randomly called to decipher a given jumbled word.
• Students who deciphered the word will have an opportunity to call one of his/her
classmates to give an insight about the word.
This activity aims to let students recall about the history of cells.
Engage
After the recall, students will form a triad for another activity entitled Cell’s Adventure. Each
triad will be given a worksheet (Please see attached file) where they needed to collaborate in
order to finish the tasks in it. The worksheet is a story about the adventure of Cell (a character
in an anime called Dragon Ball Z). Students will read the introduction for 3 minutes to
understand the quest in the story.
Explore
After the introduction, students are given a maximum of 5 minutes to explore the Guide Cards
that tackles about the unique parts of an animal and plant cell and another 5 minutes to answer
the first two activity cards.
Explain
The teacher will now have a confirmation of what the students have understand about the
unique parts of an animal and plant cell. This will be done with the participation of the students
acting as the characters in the story.

Elaborate
Students will work on the third guide card that will lead students on the discovery on the
difference between plant and animal cell. Students will also work on the last activity card in the
worksheet. Students are given a maximum of 5 minutes to do the tasks.
The students will have an opportunity to confirm their understanding about the difference
between the shapes of an animal and plant cell. Confirmation will be done with the guidance of
the teacher and with the participation of the students.
Extend
Images of a plant and animal cell will be shown to students for them to discover the other
parts of a cell.
Evaluate
Students will know answer the assessment cards on the activity. (Please see attached file)
