PICKING A PRICING STRATEGY

Standards

General Focus
The general focus is cover the different pricing strategies and the advantages and disadvantages of them.

Objective
Students will be able to (SWBAT):
understand the different pricing strategies
identify the advantages and disadvantages of the pricing strategies

Outcomes
Students will be able to analyze and know which pricing strategy to use for different types of retail marketing.
Students will be able to compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of pricing strategies.

Procedures
STARTER (5 minutes): Students will write what they think or know about the high-low pricing strategy. We will then make a list together of what is correct information
about the high low pricing strategy.
ENGAGE (7 minutes): Students will discuss why it is important to use a pricing strategy. I will work to keep the discussion going and add information when needed.
EXPLORE (15-20 minutes): Students will follow along as I write notes on the board. The notes will cover:
What is the high/low pricing strategy
disadvantages to the strategy
advantages to the strategy
how the strategy works
practice problems we will go over together
Students can ask questions whenever they need more information and explanation. I will also ask questions throughout the lesson to make sure the students are
understanding.
PRACTICE or APPLICATION (10 minutes): students will work on high low pricing problems. The worksheet will start with easier problems and slowly work to harder ones.
I will be walking around answering questions.
EXTEND (7 minutes): Students will get into groups of three or four to check how they are doing on the worksheet. Students will help each other with problems that they
had trouble with.
CLOSURE (5 minutes): I will ask the students where they are still confused on the high low pricing strategy and will give them more explanation and see if we need more
time the next day to finish the high low pricing strategy.

Homework/Assessment
Students will finish the worksheet from class.
Student will think about if they any questions about the high low pricing strategy method they want or need answered.

Accommodations & Modifications


if students are uncomfortable being in a partner, they can work on their own
if students are uncomfortable discussing topics in front of the class, they can write out a few sentences and turn it in
student who are English learners can have text and content in both English and their first language
if students need to check out a laptop to take home, they can
if students need more time to work on research during class, we will make time
