THE STORY SO FAR
Godzilla arrives in Brazil, where he clashes with Ebirah and
Megaguirus. But as Megaguirus carries Godzilla and continues their
battle in Peru, the two are interrupted by the arrival of an alien pod
containing a new threat... the Trilopods! The Trilopods are an alien
species capable of harvesting the genetic material from other
creatures, and forming a hybrid monster from that material. When
the Trilopods overpower Megaguirus and create a hybrid, Godzilla is
outmatched and taken away to Los Angeles to join the wounded and
captive SpaceGodzilla!

Meanwhile, Battra attacks Infant Island, destroying it completely and

causing the Mothra larvae to seek refuge at the Monster Islands
facility. But as the creatures arrive at the facility, more Trilopods land
seeking to harvest the inhabitants of the islands! With Lucy Casprell
and others still trapped there, the monsters may very well tear the
island apart in their fight for survival.

Just outside of Earth’s atmosphere, the Cryog Commander Rhizon

reunites with his former leader, the evil Emperor Karkaro. Helpless
against Karkaro’s armada, Rhizon can only watch as Karkaro
unleashes his Trilopod army across the globe, seeking out monsters
to harvest and achieve his ultimate goal... the destruction of Earth!

ARTIST CONCEPTS
The final story arc of the series had the Cryog forces unleashing the Trilopod creatures upon the monsters of Earth. Not only
did this provide the team with an opportunity to showcase the new monsters, it also guaranteed that there would be some
dramatic events taking place over the final issues.

Through pencil roughs and sketches, series artists Matt Frank and Jeff Zornow turned in numerous cover concepts that
would not only tell the story contained within a particular issue, but also help showcase some of the monster cast that
would be returning or even appearing for the first time in that issue. The final issue featured a wraparound cover by each
artist, and each of those covers featured nearly every monster that had been in the series’ full 25-issue run. But in addition
to the cast of monsters readers have come to know, the team had to take into consideration the fact that the new Trilopod
monsters would have to appear as well.

Knowing that the Trilopod forces were going to harvest Earth’s monsters and create hybrid mutations of them, the team
had a lot of fun sketching bizarre new versions of the monster roster. Not only did the hybrid creatures need to mimic the
powers and abilities of a kaiju, but they also needed to be recognizeable to the reader as well. Artists Matt Frank and Jeff
Zornow began working on taking the existing cast and adding their own special touches to the hybrids’ designs. Starting with
the basic formula of the Trilopod Alpha and Beta merged, they were able to come up with some very cool, very unique, and
very familiar versions of Godzilla’s supporting cast.
