Your First Awesome Assignment!

For your first oral presentation, you will create your own awesome entry (written in the same
style), and then share it with the class. You will also share a little bit about yourself and why you
chose that particular thing as something so awesome (and what it reveals about you), so that we
as a class can learn something about you. 

The Awesome Entry

It will need a good lead sentence, visual vocabulary, and a lot of detail! It must be written in the
second person.
It needs to be presented nicely, with a picture. It will go in our Folder of Awesome, and will be a
reminder during tough times of all the little things we can think about and be grateful for 
Approximately 250 words.

The Explanation
For this part of the presentation, you will explain why you chose this particular “awesome” thing,
and in the process, teach us something about yourself. Maybe you love the feel of jumping into a
lake because it reminds you of all the summers you spent with your family up in the interior, and
then you share some insights about your relationship with your family, or what not. Approximately
250 words.

The Assessment
You will be presenting your entry and your explanation to the class. You must be prepared for this
like you would for any presentation. You will be assessed on the usual oral language skills: eye
contact, tone of voice, level of preparation, speed, understandability, engagement etc. You will
also be assessed on your creativity in your awesome entry, and the depth of your explanation and
how reflective it is about you as a person.
