LESSON PLAN

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 60- minute lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Describe the different sources of energy
b. Give a brief summary of how energy is produced from different sources
c. Differentiate between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Energy Sources
B. References:
- Curriculum Teaching Guide in Physical Science (pg. 188-198)

C. Materials:
- PowerPoint Presentation
- Activity Sheets
D. Methodologies:
- Brainstorm discussion
- Lecture
- Cooperative learning
E. Skills to be Developed:
- Observing
- Conserving
- Inferring
- Concluding
F. Valuing:
- Did you ever wonder where the electricity in their power outlet comes from?
- How is electricity generated?
- What is the main source of electricity in the Philippines?
- Why are we asked to always conserve electricity?
- Will electricity run out or is it from a perpetual source?
G. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Customary Greeting
3. Checking of attendance

III. ACTIVATE
 The teacher divides the class into two teams. They will be playing a game called Jumbled
Letters
 Mechanics of the game:
o Group 1 will take the first slot followed by group 2.
o Jumbled letters with its picture will be shown in the screen. The group tasked to
arrange the jumbled letter to form a word will be given 1 minute to answer.
o In the event that the group failed to answer correctly or consumed the allotted
time, the next group will answer.
o The cycle continues until no jumbled letters left.
o The team who has the highest number of points will be declared as the
winner.

IV. ACQUIRE
 The teacher will present a diagram showing the different sources of energy in the
Philippines and the percentages of each source. This is to give the learners an overview of
the energy situation in our country
 The students will answer the guide question and complete the table about the diagram
presented
 Introduce power plant. Discuss briefly and mention that electricity can be broken down to
two major groups: renewable and non-renewable sources. Compare the two groups of
energy.
 The teacher divides the class into seven groups. She assigns one source of energy for each
group to present to the class.
 The teacher gives supplemental discussion after all the presentations but emphasizes on how
each source of energy produce electricity.
 The teacher posts again the questions posted before the start of discussion.
 The teacher gives the generalization

V. APPLICATION
 The students accomplish the activity Acrostic Poem

VI. ASSESSMENT
 The students will do the Activity: Complete Me and Activity: Venn Diagram

VII. ASSIGNMENT
 Make either a poster, a flyer, or a brochure on a product (such as fuels, household, or
personal care products) indicating its uses, properties, mode of action, and precautions.
