ARALING PANLIPUNAN INTERVENTION

I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Project Title: SMART BUDDY SYSTEM (SMS)

II. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

1. Create a group of fast learners and slow learners to tie up. Slow learners will
become tutees and fast learners will become tutors.
2. Identify low performing students and make them parts of peer tutoring.
3. Tie up two students and put them together as “learning partners”/buddies.
4. Involve parents, teachers and stakeholders in the implementation and monitoring of
this endeavor.
5. Develop camaraderie, trust, and support among each member.

III. PROJECT BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

This idea was coined to give importance on the philosophical view of “SMS”. SMS is
expresses concern and belongingness and states that the Filipino people have a penchant of
looking for a companion, a partner, either a group or an individual. This further elaborates
that we Filipinos can work efficiently and effectively if we are working as a group.
The sense of belongingness may be developed as a potent tool in learning. Groups
maybe created to help and support each other. Those who do not excel in some other
learning areas maybe assisted by those who excel. Moreover, SMS as a collective term
maybe reinforced to call the attention and support of each student.

IV. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

Students are the importance of this project. Both slow learners and fast learners will
benefit from this. Slow learners may develop their skills and potentials while on the other
hand, fast learners may gain mastery. The secondary recipients of this are teachers and
parents. The former may feel the increase of students’ performance while the latter may
notice the improved interest of their children and upgraded study habits through regular
monitoring of study habits.
V. STRATEGIES USED

From the concept of SMS, the sense of being with, and the sense of belongingness are
the motivating factors that may arouse students’ learning interests. Through dyad and peer
tutoring the project will be implemented. In these activities, students who belong in a
particular group will be identified by their teachers. They will be labeled in the teachers’
record whether they are fast or slow learners. Close monitoring of this by the teachers is
recommended so consistency based on increased/ improved performance will be identified
and recorded by the teacher/s.

VI. IMPLEMENTATION PERIODS

This project will be implemented starting every June of each school year and will end up
in March of the next year.

VII. IMPACT TO STUDENTS AND SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS

1. Learning interest is aroused and students enjoy and love their work as learners.
2. Increase in NAT results are increased at least 20%.
3. Drop-out rates are decreased
4. Camaraderie and strong support system in an organization are enhanced.
5. Internal and external stakeholders’ commitment is developed for quality assurance.
6. Raise performance level of students in AP by 65 MPS.
