Anthony Fauci, M.D.

Director

Dear Dr. Fauci,

We write to inquire about certain correspondence from you and other stakeholders in the virology
community regarding potential effective solutions in combatting COVID-19, including Ivermectin
and Hydroxychloroquine.
We are concerned that certain effective strategies at combatting the pandemic may have been
overlooked. For example, on April 8, 2020, you and your colleague, Amanda Coleman, received
an email from an individual with links to studies on potential anti-parasite and antimalarial drugs,
including Ivermectin and Chloroquine, to combat Covid-19.1 On April 16, 2020, this individual
sent you an email with the words, “Continue to ignore me.”2 You later responded:
“You are not being ignored. The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute will take a look
at this.”3
Recently, a review led by Dr. Pierre Kory, examined trials with Ivermectin as a treatment against
COVID. The Kory paper concluded that controlled treatment trials of the drug Ivermectin have
found “statistically significant reductions in mortality, time to clinical recovery, and time to viral
clearance” against COVID-19.4 Additionally, two early studies that were critical to the dismissal
of Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 have been retracted due to a lack of
transparency related to the original raw data. This shows that the process for assessing the
effectiveness of treatments in the midst of crisis is fraught with tensions and difficulties and
transparency is essential.
In the wake of the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) reversal of indoor mask policy, we are
concerned that natural immunity is being overlooked by public health experts. In fact, you stated
that vaccines “can do better than nature.”5 However, a study published this May showed that
antibodies remained detectable after 11 months after infection.6 Another study showed that, of its

previously infected subjects who remain unvaccinated, not one had a SARS-CoV-2 infection over
the course of the study. The study concluded that people who were previously infected with Covid
“are unlikely to benefit from COVID-19 vaccinations.”7 In fact, data from Israel suggests a 700%
greater protection against the Delta variant from natural immunity compared to the vaccine.8
Unfortunately, natural immunity seems to be completely unconsidered by public health experts,
including yourself.
As Members of Congress, we want to ensure that every possible tool to fight COVID-19 was
properly assessed. It is important for American citizens to have confidence that NIH is not favoring
vaccines over therapeutics. Please provide the following by August 30, 2021:
1. Copies of all your communications with The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute
(NHLBI) related to Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine.
2. Any documents, notes, or other information that you supplied to NHLBI in their assessment
of the effectiveness of Ivermectin.
3. The NHLBI’s conclusion on the effectiveness of Ivermectin, Chloroquine, and
Hydroxychloroquine for treating COVID-19.
4. A statement of the NIAID’s approach to ensuring that cheap, well-tolerated, and widely
accessible medicines are properly assessed for their effectiveness and use in public health
crises.
5. Any and all information, including studies and related data, documents, and
correspondence reviewed by NIAID on the effectiveness of antibodies and other immunity
achieved through natural infection of COVID-19.
a. Please further provide any and all information and data pertaining to the immune
response from natural infection and current authorized vaccines.
b. Please further provide if natural immunity does protect previously infected
individuals in contrast to individuals who have received immunity through
inoculation of an authorized vaccine.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Chip Roy Bill Posey
