Bulb Shaping

Before we begin assembly we must give Bulbasaur's bulb its ridges. To do this we are going to
use a long piece of yarn and weave it through the bulb to divide it into six sections. You will need
your yarn needle to do this.

Take a look at the top of the bulb. We are going to divide the bulb into

1. Take a long piece of spring green yarn and weave it

top.
2. Pull the yarn tight, it will pull in the the side of the
bulb. Repeat five more times.
3. Top down view of what the bulb should look like
when finished.

ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Bulbasaur as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process. I recommend using pins to help plan where you want to sew parts to the body.

1. Sew the open end body to the bottom

of the head.

2. Sew the ears to the head.

3. Sew the hips onto the sides of the

body. Note that the sides of the hips with the
6 consecutive dec's will face towards the
front of the body

5. Sew the front feet to the body.

6. Sew the bulb onto the back.

7. Take your stem wire and push it

through the base of the bulb and out the
other side. Then bend both ends of the wire
to round them off.

8. Pull the vines over the wire and sew

them to the body, just under the bulb.

ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Pikachu as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process. I recommend using pins to help plan where you want to sew parts to the body. They are
especially helpful in getting the tail and hip/feet placements adjusted so that Pikachu can balance
upright on his own.

1.       Sew the open end of the head onto the

open end of the body. Note: The front side of
the face is the side with the extra increases
that was made in the front loops at round 15.
I have places a black pin to mark the front and
center the head.

2.       Sew the hips onto the sides on the body.

3.       Sew the ears to the top of the head.

ASSEMBLY

5.       Sew the feet onto the front of the

hips.

6.       Sew the stripes onto the back. The

shorter stripe goes above the longer stripe.

7.       Sew the arms to the sides of the

body. If you use the pokeball sew the arms
at a forward reaching angle. Sew/glue the
ball in between the arms.

8.       Sew/glue the tail onto the back.

9.       Cut two small circles from the black

felt and two smaller circles of white from
the white felt. Cut a small triangle from the
black felt. Needle felt or glue the eyes and
nose onto the face

ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Glaceon as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process.

1.       Sew the head to the body.

Note: it doesn't have to go on
straight. You can slightly turn the
head to the left or right to give
Glaceon a more interesting pose!

2.    Sew the thighs to the lower sides

of the body. Note: the side of the
thighs with the consecutive decreases
should face the front.

3. Sew the back feet to the front of

the thighs.

4. Sew the tail to the lower backside

of the body. *Tip: if you want your
tail to be more erect and pose-able,
you can put modeling wire inside it
before sewing to the body.

ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Glaceon as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly

Note: it doesn't have to go on
straight. You can slightly turn the
head to the left or right to give
Leafeon a more interesting pose!

2.    Sew the ears to the head.

3. Sew the  thighs to the sides of the

lower body. Note: the side of the
thighs with the consecutive decreases
should face the front.

4. Sew the back feet to the front of

the thighs.

8
ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Leafeon as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process.

the top of the head in between the
ears.

6.    Sew the Under-Ear spikes to the

Then sew the leg leaves to the sides
of the legs, just above the color
change.

8. Sew the tail to the lower

backside of the body.

9
ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Leafeon as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process.

9.      Apply the inner ear felt pieces

to the ears. Then apply the eyes and
nose to the face. You can use glue or
a felting needle.

BODY PARTS
*Tip: When crocheting in rows we typically
will chain 1 at the end of each row before
turning our work to accomodate for the
height of the stitches in the next row. We
typically start crocheting into the 2nd stitch
from out hook. This gives us bumpy looking
edges.
So for this piece I recommend not chaining at
the end of the row. Turn your work without
chaining, and then crochet into the very first
stitch from your hook. This will give a more
solid, straight looking edge.

Now the end of your tail is curved and may
be curved out to the side. To fix this, and to
give the tail its desired shape, you will need
to take a long piece of carrot yarn and attach
it to the end of the tail, as seen in picture 1.
Using your yarn needle, begin running
stitches along the interior of the tail's curve
and pull them tight. This will pull the end of
the tail into a closed spiral. See the images
to the right.

6
BODY PARTS

Assemble the Tails.

Once you have all six tails made, you will need to sew them together. See the images below.

Eyes, Nose, Inner ears.

These pieces are all made from felt.
For the eyes, cut out two almond shaped eyes from the brown felt. With the white felt, cut out
two small circles for the eye highlights. (Looking at reference photos of Vulpix really helps in
getting the eye shapes and size correct.) Optional: To give the eye a little more detail, as
shown in the finished photos, you can use a small piece of orange, or a lighter brown, to give
the eye an iris.

For the nose, cut out a very small triangle shape from the black felt.
For the Inner ears cut out two triangles from the brown felt and trim them up so that they fit
inside the inner ears.

ASSEMBLY
Use the provided pictures of the finished Vulpix as a visual aid to help guide you in the assembly
process. I recommend using pins to help plan where you want to sew parts to the body.

1 2

1. Sew the head onto the open end of the

body. Remember that the side of the
body with the extra row is the front side.

2. Sew the belly to the front of the body. 33 4

4.Sew the flat side of the back feet to the

underside of the hips.

ASSEMBLY

7. Use a felting needle, or glue, and

apply the eyes, inner ears and nose to the
face/head.

8. Sew the assembled bangs onto the

8
head.

9. Sew, or glue, the hair rolls onto the

1 2
top of the head. (For my Vulpix, I ended
up using hot glue. The stitches at the
bottom of the rolls were pulled so tightly
it was hard to push the yarn needle
through. You can use whichever method
works best for you!

10. Sew the tails Vulpix's rear! Definitely

take your time with this step, making sure
you place stitches all around where the

tails meet the body for maximum
support.
