The Nutrition Care Process is a standardized model intended to guide registered dietitian
nutritionists and dietetic technicians, registered, in providing high-quality nutrition care. Also, the use of
this is to provide a framework for professionals to customize care which takes into account the
patient/client’s needs and values and using the best evidence available to make decisions. For me,
having a nutrition care would define as the basis duty so that it can provide adequate and appropriate
food and drinks to the patients/clients. It considers changes in the nutritional care necessary to ensure
the satisfaction of the patients’ nutritional requirements. The importance of nutrition care process in my
future job as a Nutritionist-Dietitian is that it can give a benefit of knowledge and skills to address the
growing burden of lifestyle related diseases. Also, it can lead to more efficient and effective care which
has a great recognition for the role that I will have in the future.

As a nutrition and dietetic student, nutrition care process increased my knowledge and skills by
applying it in real-life situation. For example, NCP challenged me to be good in doing an assessment
through my patient. It was very overwhelming that I did it even I experienced this kind of “new
learning”. Second, I learned how to develop a basic nutrition care plan in just a limited time being. I
believe that to be able to come up with some ideas in doing a nutrition care plan, it must be accurate
and must have critical thinking skills. Third, I learned to have a good communication towards me and my
patient. Through good communication, we can help each other to understand the subject that we had
and we will have. Forth, I learned that documentation in nutrition care process is much important
because this is the primary source of information to evaluate patient care and because without this, the
nutrition care plan will not work. Lastly, this course had given me an effective way on how I can treat my
patients/clients and it provides a high-quality nutrition care towards the patients/clients that I will
handle in the future.

There are a lot of challenges that I have encountered. First, the first time I heard this course, I
felt confused because I think this course is tough and it is very hard to understand. Second, the moment
we started to discuss it, I thought it was rigid to apply it in real-life situation because every time we had
some lectures, I felt worried that I can’t make it through. And third, the challenges between me and my
group members during the time we are doing our case studies because there were things that
complicated to explain to them and as a leader, you will do anything to explain it to them clearly so that
they can acknowledge clearly and accept the fact that we are a group.

There are also a lot of values that I gained and acquired through this course but I’ll give just
three. First, I acquired the value of being loyal because when we had this group activity, there was this
moment that I want to leave and give up my group because of the connections and lack of
communication with the one member that we had. Second, the value of being an intelligent person.
Well, I’m not that intelligent but I believe that I can give my best t understand this correct in my own
ways by putting myself on it. Lastly, the value of having dedication. I know that my course will reflect to
my program and to my future. By learning in my own pace, I must study well and always apply and think
every moment that I can do this.

As a future ND and one of the health care team someday, there are things that I can contribute.
First, I can help those people who in needs of good nutrition. Second, the learning that I had will give
those people a much better life. Third, to be able to give an accurate and share the knowledge and skills
that I gained during my learning process. All of these will benefit through myself as a best nutritionist-
dietitian someday.
