Phuket is the largest island in Thailand, a 540 square kilometers, it’s about the same size as Singapore. Just
over an hour by jet from Bangkok or Singapore, and with daily connections to most major Asian airports, Phuket is
ideally situated for a short break or a relaxing vacation.
It covers land and many sandy beaches. It is a diverse and fascinating island to explore. A rich culture, a
beautiful coastline, spectacular natural sights, loads of outdoor sports and activities, shopping, nightlife and dining
are just a few of its attractions. Just offshore are dozens of smaller islands, easily reached by boat. The natural
wonders of the mainland, found just beyond Phuket over the bridge to the north of the island, are also closed at
hand. Many tourists come to Phuket every year to see the beautiful view of it. One of the beautiful beaches had been
displayed in a film, “The Beach”, which was acted by the Hollywood actor, Leonardo Di caprio in 1999.

An aurora, also called polar light or northern light, is a natural light display in the sky. They are usually
seen in the high latitudes (Arctic and Antarctic) regions. Auroras are produced when the Earth's magnetosphere is
disturbed by the solar wind.
An aurora around the North Pole is called the Aurora borealis or 'northern lights'. Around the South Pole it
is the Aurora australis or 'dawn of the south'. It can be seen from long distances, stretching in the sky many
hundreds of miles.
Auroras can only be seen at night because their light is not as strong as the light of day and faint stars can
even be seen through the aurora. However, they can also happen during the day.
An aurora occurs when the Sun sends off particles into space. These particles are mainly electrons,[1] with
charge and energy, which means they contribute to electricity. Earth has a protective shield of energy around it.
This is called the "magnetic field" and forms an elongated sphere around the Earth called the "magnetosphere".
The Earth’s magnetic field keeps off most of the solar wind.
At high-latitude areas (polar areas), the magnetic field is vertical. It does not keep off particles of the solar
wind which can come from the magnetosphere and hit the particles of the air (Earth's atmosphere). When they
hit, the atmosphere is heated and excited and the excess energy gets away, a phenomenon which we see as
moving lights in the sky above 100 km altitude typically. An aurora can be especially bright following a solar event
called a coronal mass ejection (CME), when the charged particles rip through the electromagnetic field because
of their power.
Aurora phenomena have been observed on other planets that have a magne
tic field, such as Jupiter, Saturn and more recently Mars. It is believed to be a widespread phenomenon in the
Solar System and beyond.
Many legends are associated with the aurora in all countries where this phenomenon regularly occurs.
On 17 August 2014, there was a special event in hometown. The mayor held a big competition of Pinang
Climbing. This competition was held to celebrate the Independence Day.
Early in the morning, many people had gathered in the town square. In the middle, there were exactly one
hundred poles. Various prizes , such as T-shirt, radios, pans, and bicycles were hung on the top of each pole.
At 10 o’clock, the competition started. Unlike the usual Pinang Climbing competition in which the
competitors work individually, this time the competitors worked in teams. There were ten teams in this event. They
would compete to get the prizes as many as they could.
The crowd enjoyed watching the teams struggle to reach the top. They yelled and gave applauses every
time a successful team grabbed the prizes and dropped them down. It was so slippery. Each pole had been
covered with grease. However, all teams had good strategies. At about 12 a.m. nearly all the prizes had been
taken away.
One day while a mouse deer was walking in the forest, he saw a big, black snake sleeping under a tree.
When he saw the snake, the mouse deer was frightened. He wanted to run away from the snake, but he suddenly
fell on top of a tiger which was sleeping not far from the snake. The tiger woke up and held the mouse deer. He
told the mouse deer that he was going to eat him for lunch.
"Please don't eat me now," said the mouse deer. "I have something important to do."
"Look," said the mouse deer, "that is the king's belt. He asked me to stay here and watch it while he was
away in the forest."
The tiger looked at the snake and said, "That is a beautiful belt. I need a belt like that. Can I wear it?" he
asked the mouse deer.
"Oh all right," said the mouse deer. So he picked up the snake and winded it around the tiger. Then the
snake woke up and saw the tiger. The snake twisted itself tighter and tighter, until the tiger couldn't breathe. The
tiger asked the mouse deer to help him. But, the mouse deer turned and ran away into the forest.
