Matt 9:22, 27-30, Acts 14:8-10; Matt8:13, 15:28; Acts 3:6, 9:36-40

b) Pray
Jam 5:14-15
c) Claim the ____________ and ____________ in the Name of Jesus

Acts 3:6, 4:10, Jn 14:13

d) Call for ___________ or other believers (Jam 5:14,16)

e) __________ faults and sins, and strive for personal righteousness (Jam
5:16)
3. ___________________ IS REQUIRED
a) To the ________ of God
 Example of Jesus (Luke 22:42)
 Healing of Leper (Matthew 8:2-3)
b) To the ____________________ of God
 Example of Paul (2 Corinthians 12:7-9)
 Example of Job (Job 2:10, 19:25, 13:15)
Jn 9:1-7, John Ch 11

4. ORIGIN OF SICKNESS
a) Sin (John 5:14)
b) Satan Lk 13:16
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power,
and how he went around doing good and healing all who were
under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”

(Acts 10: 38)

5. GOD IS IN ____________
It is important to remember that ‘greater is He that is in me than He that is
in the world’!

a) Christ has conquered the power of ________ and _____

 His victory is available to us
“He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil
has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of
God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.”

(1 John 3: 8)

1Cor 15:55-57

b) God limits or controls our ______________

“The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your
hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went
out from the presence of the LORD.”

(Job 1: 12)
Job 2:6
c) God will not allow afflictions to be “above that ye are able”, and will
ensure that “ye may be able to bear it”
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And
God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can
bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so
that you can stand up under it.”

(1 Corinthians 10:13)

6. BEING GOOD _______________ AND EXERCISING

_____________
a) Natural rules of physical and mental health such as proper exercise,
diet and rest should not be neglected
Mk 6:31

b) Effects of old age

 Healing is available to the aged, but the healed part usually
continues to age like the rest of the body. The aged believer
can look forward to “the glorious liberty of the children of
God” and “the redemption of our body” or “incorruption”
and “immortality”

(1 Cor 15:51-53, Rom 8:21-23)

c) Doctors
 References to physicians and natural medicine in the Bible
do not put them in a bad light (Jeremiah 8:22; Lk 10:34; 1Tim
5:23). Thus, it is not wrong to consult doctors but our
dependency or “sufficiency is of God” (2Cor 3:5).

(Jer 8:22, 1 Tim 5:23, 2Cor 3:5)

Application

Understanding divine healing

a) Read James 5;14-15. What should we do if we become sick?

b) Why should we pray in Jesus Name for healing and not in the name
of saints?
13 Blessed
LESSON

Hope
He’s coming

Lesson Goal
Discuss:

A. The resurrection of the dead

B. Second Coming of Christ.

Objectives
Students should be able to answer the following questions:

1. What hope do all Christian share?

2. What will happen to people who die?
3. What will happen to Christians who are still alive when Christ return?
4. What will our new bodies be like?

1. THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST (THE DAY OF THE LORD)

a) First Phase
 Christ’s coming for His saints (1Thes 4:13-18; 1Cor 15:51-54;
Matt 24:36-42). Also called Rapture, meaning “caught up”,
i.e. saints to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
b) Second Phase
 Christ’s coming with His saints (Jud 14; Col 3:4). Also called the
Revelation, i.e. Christ is revealed to the world to execute
judgement (Rev 1:7; 2The 1:8; Zec14:5; Matt24:30).

2. THE ____________, A SURE ________

a) Jesus’ own testimony
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take
you to be with me that you also may be where I am”

(John 14; 3)
Matt24, 25; Mk 13; Lk 21; Jn 21:22
b) Angels ____________ it

"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the
sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will
come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

(Acts 1: 11)
Heb 2;2
c) Apostles _____________ it
“so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people;
and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring
salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

(Hebrews 9:28)

Other instances:

 Peter in Act 3:19-20 & 1Pet5:4

 Paul in 1The 4:16
 John in 1Jn 3:2, 2:28 & Rev 1;7
 James in Jam 5:8

3. WHAT HAPPENS DURING RAPTURE?

1The 4:13-18 & 1Cor 15:51-54

“51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be
changed-- 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For
the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will
be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable,
and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed
with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying
that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

(1 Corinthians 15: 51-54)

 Shout of the archangel & trumpet of God

 The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven
 Bodies of the dead in Christ shall rise first
 We who are alive shall be changed, and caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air
 So shall we ever be with the Lord.

Note:

New bodies will be

 Like the glorious body of Christ (Phi 3:21; 1Jn 3:2; Col 3:4)
 Incorruptible, immortal & spiritual, not subject to limitations
of the physical body (1Cor 15:42,44,53-54) /
 Recognizable individually like Christ’s body.

4. WHEN WILL THE RAPTURE TAKE PLACE?

a) No one but God knows the ________________
36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in
heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of
Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days
before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they
knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and
took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of
Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other
left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken
and the other left. 42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not
know on what day your Lord will come.”

(Matthew 24: 36-42)

Other verses: Mk 13:32; Act 1:7
b) It is __________________
42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day
your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house
had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would
have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an
hour when you do not expect him.”

(Matthew 24: 42-44)

Other verses: 1The 5:1-6; Phi 4:5; Heb 10:37; Jam 5:8-9; Rev 22:10,20)
c) Some signs of its being at hand (Matthew 24)
 Deceivers, false prophets, false Christ (v. 5, 23-26)
 Wars, rumors of wars (v.6)
 Famines, pestilences, earthquakes (v.7)
 Persecution of Christians (v.9)
 General apostasy & departure from the faith (v.12 & 1Tim
4:1; 2Tim 3:1-5)
 Worldwide witness of the gospel (v.14 & Lk 21:24)

5. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER RAPTURE

a) For _____________
 Judgment seat of Christ where their ____________________
will be judged and rewarded
(1Cor 3:11-15; 2Cor 5:10; 2Tim 4:8; 1Pet 5;4)
 Our judgment as sinners is past (Jn 3:18; Rom 8:1)
 Marriage of the Lamb with the Church, the Bride of Christ
(Rev 19:6-9; 2Cor 11:2)
b) For _____________
 They will face _________________
(Matt24:15-21; Rev 6-19)
The Tribulation

 7-year period (Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15)

 Anti-Christ is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:2-4, 8-10)
 Anti-Christ will make a “covenant”, then in the middle of the
period he will stop the Jewish temple worship, and he
himself take place of honor or worship in the temple
(Dan 9:27, Matt24:15; 2The 2:4)

6. TIME OF THE RAPTURE

THREE VIEWS:

a) ___________________ view:
The Church will be present on earth during the tribulation period, and
the coming for and with His saints occur in quick succession at the
close of the period.
b) ___________________ views:
Christ will come for His people at the middle of the 7-year period.
c) ___________________ views:
The whole Church will be taken up (raptured) before the entire 7-year
period begins. At the end of the period, the Lord will return with His
saints to set up His millennial kingdom.

7. REASONS FOR PRE-TRIBULATIONS VIEW

a) 2 The 2:1-12: - Anti-Christ is revealed before the start of the Tribulation
(v.3). But something or someone “withholdeth” his revelation (v.6).
Only when this person is “taken out of the way” (v.7), can “that
Wicked be revealed” (v.8). Most Bible scholars agree that this person
is the Holy Spirit indwelt in the Church. Thus, when the Holy Spirit is
“taken out of the way”, the Church would be raptured. Then only will
the Anti-Christ be revealed.

b) The Tribulation is called “the great day of His wrath” (Rev 6:17).
Believers will be delivered from this wrath (1The 1:10, 5:9). That day will
not overtake them (1The 5:4), and they will escape unlike others in
1The 5:3 who “shall not escape” the “destruction”. Also see Lk21:34-
36.

c) The apostles were looking for the Rapture, not the Tribulation – “we”
in 1Cor 15:51-52; 1The 4:17; Tit 2:11-13.

d) Rev 3:10: - Christ’s promise to the Church “to keep thee from (or
deliver from) the hour (or time/period) of temptation”.

e) Jesus taught His disciples to watch expectedly for His coming at any
time (imminent) (Matt24:42,44,50; 25:13; Mk 13:32; Lk 12:40). Since the
time of the Rapture is unknown, it could not be in the middle or at the
end of a known 7-year period.
f) Rev 13:15-16; 20:4: - All those who don’t worship the image of the
beast or receive Anti-Christ’s mark will be martyred. Hence there
would be no more living saints to be raptured during or at the end of
the tribulation.

g) The signs of the Lord’s coming will be fulfilled before His Revelation
(2nd Phase), but they do not all have to be fulfilled before the
Rapture (1st Phase).

Understanding Bible Words:

 The Blessed Hope: return of Christ and resurrection of the dead
 The Rapture: Christians are instantly taken with Christ
 Imperishable: indestructible
 Immortal: forever
Application

Understanding the Second Coming of Christ

a) Read 1 Corinthians 15:51-55. What will happen when Christ returns?

b) Read Titus 2:13. Why it is called “the blessed hope”?

c) Read 1 John 3:2-3. What will be like for eternity?

14 The Millennial Reign
LESSON

of Christ
The King

Lesson Goal
A. To understand the millennial reign of Christ

Objectives
Students should be able to answer the following questions:

1. What is the Millenium?

2. What is the reign of Christ on earth be like?
3. What prophecy that must be fulfilled before Jesus can come again has
already happened?
4. When will the Jews be saved?
5. Are there indications of when this might happen?

1. THE ________________ (SECOND PHASE OF THE SECOND

COMING OF CHRIST)
a) Occurs after the marriage supper of the Lamb, and at the end of the
___________________ period

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse,
whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes
war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He
has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is
dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14
The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and
dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp
sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron
scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
16 On his robe and on his thigh, he has this name written: KING OF KINGS
AND LORD OF LORDS.

(Revelation 19: 11-16)

b) The Lord comes ____________________

14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men:

"See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy
ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the
ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the
harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

(Jude 1: 14-15)

c) His feet stand on the ________________________

3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he
fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the
Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be
split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the
mountain moving north and half moving south.

(Zechariah 14: 3-4)

d) The battle of _____________________ takes place

13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of
the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of
the mouth of the false prophet. 14 They are spirits of demons
performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the
whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God
Almighty. 15 "Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays
awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked
and be shamefully exposed." 16 Then they gathered the kings
together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

(Revelation 16: 13-16)

e) ___________________, the False Prophet and Satan are defeated and

cast to bottomless pit

But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had
performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had
deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and
worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery
lake of burning sulfur.

(Revelation 19: 20)

2. THE ________________
a) Christ rules over the earth for 1000 years

I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given
authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the
word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and
had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They
came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:
4)

b) He will sit on His own throne (as distinct from His Father’s), and ________
the people of the earth

Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things,
when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have
followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of
Israel.

(Matthew 19: 28)

c) Those who believed during the Tribulation and were martyred, would
have been resurrected (the first resurrection) before the beginning of
the Millenium, and they will “live and reign with Christ” during the 1,000
years

9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of
those who had been slain because of the word of God and the
testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice,
"How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the
inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of
them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little
longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who
were to be killed as they had been was completed.

(Revelation 6: 9-11)

3. ___________ VIEWS ON THE MILLENIUM

a) _____________________
 As described above, Christ will come again before the
Millenium. This view believes the scriptures in a plain and literal
way. Proponents of this view stress on the importance of
evangelism.
b) _____________________
 Christ will come after the Millenium. The utopian state of the
Millenium is accomplished through the Church, and Christ
rules the millennial kingdom through the Church. All unfulfilled
Abrahamic promises will be fulfilled by the Church. This view
(held by the Roman Catholic Church) stresses on social
justice.
c) ______________________
 There will be no Millenium. Earthly conditions will become
worse till the end of the age when the Lord will return. There
will be a general resurrection, judgement, and the
commencement of the eternal state. Rev 20:4-6 is
completely spiritualized.
15 The Final
LESSON

Judgment

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and
judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of
Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will
be consigned to the everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire
and brimstone, which is the second death.

The _____________________________ judgement then follows. The wicked dead are

resurrected (the second resurrection), judged, and consigned to the lake of fire.

Rev 20:11-15

REV 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and

sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead,
great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book
was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what
they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in
it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was
judged according to what he had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into
the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 If anyone's name was not
found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
16 The New Heaven
LESSON

and the New Earth

"We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein
dwelleth righteousness."

1. A New _______________ and a New ______________ is prepared for us.

Read Rev 21 and Rev 22

Is 65:17

ISA 65:17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former
things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

2Pet 3:10-13

2PE 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will
disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth
and everything in it will be laid bare. 2PE 3:11 Since everything will be
destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to
live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed
its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire,
and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we
are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of
righteousness.
2. _______________ is prepared for the wicked.

a. There are 3 words relating to hell:

___________ (Heb) – sometimes means the grave, and sometimes the place of
departed people in contrast to the state of the living.

____________(Gr) – is the equivalent to “sheol”, and is the place where unsaved

people go when they die to await the resurrection and judgement at the Great
White Throne (after which “hades” is cast into the lake of fire Rev 20:14).

____________ (Matt10:28) – was a common refuse dump and a place of perpetual

fire, illustrating the fire and awfulness of the lake of fire.

b. What is hell like?

b1. A place of conscious suffering, torment and punishment

Matt 13:40-50

MT 13:40 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end

of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his
kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into
the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the
righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let
him hear.

MT 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found
it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

MT 13:45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46
When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and
bought it.
MT 13:47 "Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into

the lake and caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on
the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the
bad away. 49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and
separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Other verses: Matt 8:12,Matt22:13, 25:46; Rom 2:8-9; Lk 13:28. Lk 16:19-31;

Rev14:10-11, 20:10;

b2. It is eternal, everlasting or “unquenchable” fire / darkness / destruction /

separation from the Lord

2 Thess 1:9

9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence
of the Lord and from the majesty of his power

Other verses: Matt 25:41 Matt 8:12 Mk 9:43-48; 2Pet 2:17; Jude
1:13

The same word used for eternal judgement (Heb 6:2), is used for eternal life (Jn 3:15)
and for eternal God (1Tim 1:17). The same phrase that means forever, is used of God
being alive forever (Rev 15:7), of eternal life (Jn 10:28) and of eternal torment (Rev
14:11). Just as God and eternal life are unending, so are judgement and torment.
Thus, there is no annihilation of the unsaved, or restoration after a time of judgement.
