WHEN THE TAIL WAGS THE DOG

Organizational Behavior

1) Delineate the role of power and politics in this case.

(Real power as executive vice-chairman, Poornima Ltd)
It addresses the proper position to control and utilize
authoritative assets. For this situation, the real force of Prem
Chopra gives him the power to move Mr. Talwar to Motor India
Ltd, which was then running on an enormous misfortune.
(Power tactics)
 Talwar utilizes the pressing factor strategies over Mr. Chopra
after Motor India Ltd turned into the most noteworthy
benefit creating auxiliary of Poornima Ltd. He undermines
Mr. Chopra to one or the other auction Motor India Ltd. or
on the other hand to sell his controlling stake in the holding
organization. He utilizes the individual financial backers of
the organization to undermine Mr. Chopra.
 Talwar is likewise utilizing alliance strategies to convince the
objective (Chopra) to consent to his interest. For this, he
utilizes the guide of financial backers, who are his ally.
(Political involvement)
The activity of Mr. Chopra, to unnecessarily move Talwar, can
be identified with the political conduct of acting against a
specific person.

2) Do you think Talwar has played politics? If yes, how?

Yes, I think Mr. Talwar has played politics
The power in politics can be mentioned as the ability or the capacity of
the person to influence members of an organization to achieve a pre-
determined goal. Mr. Talwar's main strength was his extraordinary
ability to motivate individuals through focusing on their strengths
thereby influence them and made a team out of them which he used as
an instrument of change. As the Motors India rise into level of making
profits Mr. Chopra started to use the profits generated from Motors
India to fund into areas outside Motors India.
3. Do you think Chopra has misused power when he killed two birds
with one stone? If yes, how?
Yes, I think Chopra has misused his legislative power. As the vice-
chairman of the Company, he should be a motivating figure, somebody
whom the subordinates might turn upward to. For this situation,
Chopra has misused his power to satisfy his own grudge. As the
president of corporate planning of Poornima Ltd, Talwar had been
reporting to Chopra on various issue. During this period, they disagreed
on various issues including the organization's policies. They only here
and there met eye to eye on this issue.
The two birds emphasized here were to move, Talwar out of Calcutta
and to put Talwar as managing director of Motors India ltd, and with a
motive that if it turns into a failure, responsibility would entirely fall on
Talwar's head else, it was a triumph then he could exploit.
