Lesson 2 Art Appreciation/Art History/Art Creativity

Art is important in our lives. It constitutes one of the oldest and most important
means of expression developed by man. Whenever men have lived together, art has
sprung up among them as a language charged with feeling and significance. The desire
to create this language appears to be universal. As a cultural force, it is pervasive and
potent. It shows itself even in primitive societies.

LESSON OUTLINE
In every age or country, there is always art. Wherever we go, whether it is a city
or a province, here or abroad, we surely have seen creations of human beings. Some of
them appear attractive and inviting; some do not. Some are old; some are new. In
viewing those creations, we are sometimes concerned when was that created and
which one was the oldest. Just like the history of our nation, art also has a history.
The history of art focuses on objects made by human in visual form for aesthetic
purposes. It is often told as a chronology of masterpieces created during each
civilization. It can thus be framed as a story of high culture epitomized by the Wonders
of the world.
On the other hand, vernacular art expressions can also be integrated into art
historical narratives referred to as folk arts or crafts.
Creative arts refers to participation in a range of activities that allow for creative
and imaginative expressions such as music, art, creative movement and drama.
The history of art focuses on objects made by human in visual form for aesthetic
purposes in chronology of masterpieces created during each civilization.
ASSESSMENT/ENRICHMENT
1. Research on the history of visual art. Draw one (1) example of an early art.
2. Give at least ten (10) examples of folk arts and ten (10) examples of early crafts.
3. Research and list down at least 15 famous Filipino artist and their creations.
4. Given below are two(2) curve lines .Make an artwork out of that given lines. Use your
creativity.
a. How does an art can be a cultural connections to students? What are those
examples of cultural connections?
b. Why did in the history of art ,the visual art was created for aesthetic purposes
only?
Look around you? Can you see art? Lists down all the arts that you see in your
house.
