3 Window 7 1
1. Introduction to Windows:
Windows 7 is the Microsoft Windows operating system released commercially in 22
October 2009. Windows 7 is built on the Vista kernel. To many end users the biggest changes
between Vista and Windows 7 are faster boot times, new user interfaces and the addition of
Internet Explorer 8. The OS is widely available in Three Retail Editions: Windows 7 Home
Premium, Professional and Ultimate. Starter, OEM and Enterprise editions are available in some
markets.
Features of Window 7:
1. The Taskbar reloaded: Windows 7's version of the Taskbar is less cluttered than Vista's, and it
handles both running and non running apps with equal aplomb.
2. Slicker, quicker Taskbar Previews: Now they show you all of an application's open windows,
all at once.
3. The convenience of Jump Lists: These context-sensitive Taskbar menus let you start
accomplishing things in applications before you even open them.
4. A System Tray you can love: New controls prevent the System Tray from overflowing with
unwanted apps and distracting you with unhelpful, irrelevant messages.
5. A more media-savvy Windows Media Player: Love Apple's iTunes Store but hate iTunes?
New file-format support enables Windows Media Player 12 to play back unprotected audio and
video from Apple's online store.
6. Alerts via Action Center: Windows 7's version of Vista's Security Center queues up system
messages so that you can respond to them on your schedule--not when Windows feels like
interrupting you.
7. User Account Control that you control: If you're okay with this security feature's raison d'être
but can't stand the rapid-fire prompts in Vista, take heart: You can tune Windows 7's versions to
make them less paranoid and intrusive.
8. Library privileges: You can bundle folders from locations all across your hard drive into
Libraries designed to provide one-click access from the left pane of Windows Explorer to related
files.
9. Reasonable hardware requirements: Historically, new versions of Windows have gobbled up
twice the amount of CPU power and RAM that their predecessors did. But Windows 7 runs a bit
better than Vista on the same system; it's even tolerable on a netbook.
10. The potential of touch: Windows 7's support for multitouch input doesn't change anything
overnight--but it does lay necessary groundwork for third-party developers to build their own
software. If they build killer touch apps, Windows 7 deserves some of the credit.

2. User Interface of Microsoft Window 2007:

1. The Start Button: The functionality of the start menu has changed also.

2. The Start Menu: The Start Menu is still used to launch applications.
The area on the left (white) shows programs to start, including the All
Programs list. The right area shows user-related shortcuts Windows 7
shortcuts.
The Search Box is available in the Start Menu. Type in a search term
to find programs, e-mail messages (from Outlook), and documents. You
don’t even have to press Enter to see the results!
All Programs: This Button is used to access all programs installed in
Computer as MS Office, Media Player, Paint etc.
Pinable Icon Area: In this area any type of program can be pinned in
order to quickly access by user.

way.

On Windows 10, it’s all about Cortana –

3. Managing Wireless Networks in Windows 10

What appears when you click on the network status icon has already changed if you compare it to

It’s truly a hybrid desktop and mobile operating system that can run both on desktop and mobile
1
modes. A comparison of the screens that appear on the screen when the network status icon in
Windows 7 and Windows 10 is clicked.

This along with the screen that appears when you

click on the Power as well as the Volume icon and
even the date and time display has really changed a
lot in Windows 10. It’s not anymore that familiar
especially if you’ve been using older Windows
editions for a long time but of course, all of these
changes are aimed for the better! Almost the same
icons on the system tray (if you compare it with
Windows 7) but clicking them pulls up different sets
of screen and right now, we will be focusing on the
one that appears when the “Network Status” icon is
Clicked.
