education in the Philippines.

Answer the following based on the legal documents that you have read.

1.Select 2 legal documents and briefly summarize its content for 10 sentences
each
Answer:
1. Philippine Magna Carta for Disabled Persons (RA 7277)
An act providing for the rehabilitation, self-development and self-
reliance of disabled person and their integration into the mainstream of
society and for other purposes. The RA 7277 is also known as the Philippine
Magna Carta for Disabled Person, where in it stated here that the senate shall
give full support to the improvement of the total well-being of Disabled
persons and their integration into mainstream of the Society. It also covered
the rehabilitation and welfare program concerning the dis abled person. The
disabled person under this Republic act has a right and privileges to secure
their rights and safety as a member of society. Under this act no disabled
person shall be denied access to opportunities for suitable employment. They
have the rights to have an access to quality and special education. And the
state must provide financial assistance such as scholarship grants, student
loans programs, subsidies and other incentives to qualified disabled student
in both public and private school. They also have incentives or discount in
both public and private establishment and facilities. They have access in
health programs and the state shall provide a rehabilitation and health care
facilities for the disabled person. It also hereby declared that the state shall
exert efforts to remove all social, cultural, economic, environmental, and
attitudinal barrier that prejudicial to disabled persons.
2. The Child and Youth Welfare Code (PD 603)
The Presidential decree no 603 or also known as the Child and Youth Welfare
Code of the Philippines is a law stated the value of every young people in the
country wherein every child should be valued by all citizens. The family is the
main shape of his personality and mind with the help of government through
the assistance of institutions such as schools, church and community. This
law stated the right of every child to be exercised under the age of below 21
yrs. Old. Every child is endowed with the dignity and worth of a human being
from the moment of his conception, as generally accepted in medical
parlance, and has therefore, the right to be born well and every child has the
right to a wholesome family life that will provide him with love, care and
understanding, guidance and counseling, and material security. Every child
has the right to a well-rounded development of his personality to the end that
he may become a happy, useful and active member of society. Strive to lead
an upright and virtuous life in accordance with the tenets of his religion, the
teachings of his elders and mentors, and the biddings of a clean conscience.
Love, respect and obey his parents, and cooperate with them in the
strengthening of the family. Exert his utmost to develop his potentialities for
service, particularly by undergoing a formal education suited to his abilities,
in order that he may become an asset to himself and to society. This includes
all the right and privileges of the child and as well as the duties and
responsibilities of the parent in helping their child to develop and grow as an
active participant of Society. It also hereby declared the role of different
institutions, family and community in the process of child development.

2. Among the legal documents that you have read, which do you think is
the most comprehensive? Explain in 10 sentences.

Those legal documents are all comprehensive, based on what I understand


and learned through reading all of them. They include lots of rights and
privileges as well as duties and responsibilities of both child, parents,
community and other institutions to protect themselves as well as to know
their rights and responsibilities as a member of society. But I have this legal
documents who really catch my attention and I think, this is the most
comprehensive. This is the RA 7277 An act providing for the rehabilitation,
self-development and self-reliance of disabled person and their integration
into the mainstream of society and other purposes. The RA 7277 is also
known as the Philippine Magna Carta for Disabled, in which it composed of
4 titles, the General Provisions, the Rights and Privileges of the Disabled
Person, The Prohibition on Discrimination against Disabled person and the
Final Provision with corresponding chapters, and with the total of 50
sections. In which it stated their comprehensively the legal procedures, and
other necessities, rights and privileges and other prohibition in regards to
the better rehabilitation and self-Reliance of a disabled person. Under this
republic act, disabled person and able to have a role in society, wherein
this legal basis allows them to actively participates in the society and show
their skills and potential as a mainstream of society. It also simply means
that through this legal basis, what was the rights given to a normal person
was also given to them, through this implemented law, they are given a
chance to act normal behind their situations, and they are given an equal
right to live freely, in accordance of having an access to quality and special
educations as well as having an access to both private and public sectors
and facilities.
Through the help of government and other institutions they exert efforts to
remove all social, cultural, economic, environmental and attitudinal barrier
that prejudicial to disabled person so that they can live to a normal life
without restrictions and discriminations and they are able to show the
talent, skills and potential they possess.

. 3.On the other hand, which among the documents is the least
comprehensive? Explain in 10 sentence

There is no least comprehensive among the legal documents I’ve read


because all of them are created and implemented for the benefits of the
child or learners, wherein their safety is rest assured. It is clearly stated
there that the primary concern of the state is the safety of the children and
to protect them against abuse, and any other forms of neglects that
conceive their rights. This legal documents are interconnected to each
other, either disabled or not there is such laws to protect them and help
them develop their skills and potential as a member of society. This law
was implemented tor the betterment of children which portray a large role
in the society. This legal documents also means that the community must
value the child either disabled or not because they are the future of the
society therefore the government provide such laws to protect and help
them to grow and develop. As a future educator, I can see now the
struggles of the children to survive to this kind of society, this legal
documents are all important because it stated there the right and privilege
of child, that they must need to know to protect themselves to those barriers
of their development. Either disabled or not we are all have our own rights
and privilege to protect in able for us to become a better citizen. Each
individual has an equal rights and opportunities.
