    REACTION PAPER

    Register, File and Pay (RFP) is an info-graphic video which educates Filipino citizens on
    how easy it is to pay taxes right. The video contains simplified steps and approach which will be
    helpful for the taxpayers to fulfill their obligations. Moreover it assures business owners,
    especially for the small ones, that it is less of a struggle to comply with business taxation today
    since the Bureau of Internal Revenue offers the “Register, File, and Pay”.

    On the other hand, “Angat pa, Pinas!” is a tax advocacy campaign of the Bureau of
    Internal Revenue (BIR) and Department of Finance which was launched in February 2014. The
    music video shows where our taxes go and how it benefits the country and the taxpayers
    themselves. It also incorporates the interconnecting concepts of paying taxes and patriotism. The
    opening lyrics of the song was “O, atin ng simulan... isang hakbang para sa kinabukasan” which
    simply encourages us to pay our taxes as it will help us not only at the present day but also in the
    future. Moreover, paying taxes is our civic duty to do so that is why it is significant to know how
    taxes work. However, as a Filipino citizen, it is unavoidable to think if the taxes payed by the
    taxpayers really go to where they are intended to be and not just in the pockets of the government
    authorities. This fear for corrupt government authorities will only fade if we, Filipinos, will be
    more cautious and smart in choosing our leaders. Thus, the feeling of hope for a future that is
    free of corruption, which the music video gives to its viewers, is only possible if we will be
    careful about who we will support and what we will believe. Our next chance is coming soon so
    we need to recognize who will truly help and lead our country in order to make it a better one.
