1. What are the key concepts and theories in culture, society, and politics you find very useful in analyzing
societal problems?

Produce new knowledge and new theories about human kind and human behavior. This new
knowledge is then applied in an attempt to alleviate human challenges. This is concerned with the
specific intent of yielding practical application for human behavior and organization. The goal of
applied sociology is to assist in resolving social problems through the use of sociological reseach.it is an
academic discipline that deals with the study of government and political actors such as the
government administration, opposition and subjects. It is the systematic study of political and
governments institution and processes.
2. How does studying culture, society and politics affect our daily lives?

For me, everything I do has political, social, and cultural implications. So, I relate culture, society and
politics in daily life simply by living my life. All of these academic disciplines are based on the idea that
the combination of individual lives are what creates trends in group behavior. Sociology, anthropology
and political science are the disciplines that study politics, sociology and culture. Each of these areas is
made up of the interactions of individuals. The only way for an individual’s behavior to not to relate to
politics, culture and society is for the individual to be alone permanently.

3. How can you use your knowledge and understanding in culture, society, and politics in responding to
different social issues?

My knowledge on Anthropology, Political Science and Sociology helps us to develop awareness of

cultural, social and political dynamics and sensitivity to cultural diversity; provide us with an
understanding of how culture, human agency, society and politics work; and engage them in the
examination.

1. What is the news all about?

The news is all about the Duterte admin that prodded to speed up Covid-19 mass testing amid
extended lockdown.

2. How do you think your knowledge and understanding in culture, society, and politics helps you think
critically with our current situation?

My understanding in culture, society and politics in terms of our current situation. In culture, we
should learn on adapting the situation or the pandemic as we are able to survive in the midst of crisis.
In Society, our small community such as Baranggay should orient us on what is the current situation in
this society, they are the one who should help their people to know and to survive this pandemic. And
 lastly, The politics, the politicians and the people who are sitting in the highest positions are the one
who should govern their own people and country in terms of helping them from the richest to
poorest.

3. How do you think the concepts of culture, society, and politics operate in the Philippine society?

The concepts of culture, society and politics are inter-related in our country’s society. Culture being the
mirror of the way of our life, also reflects on how one behaves in his/her community. On the other
hand, we achieved harmony and peace in a community. If a system of governing is present, therefore,
politics is involved in this kind of matter. Furthermore, politics operate in our country in away that our
culture is being considered as well. Laws are being imposed to draw a line between what is right from
wrong. In a conclusion, Philippine society goes around the understanding of politics, culture and
society itself in order to operate efficiently.

4. As a member of society, how do you cope with the pandemic?

As a member of society, to cope with the pandemic, I always keep myself to be updated on current
news about Covid-19 pandemic. I also keep myself busy doing other things to improve my self skills
during this quarantine. I also obey the rules the IATF given to the public to fight against the virus. I
always keep on my mind to stay at home if there is no important things to do outside.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

1. Social Science is a discipline that attempts to explain human behavior and society. How can you see
this discipline to address present-day problems in your own community? State your answer.

In present time we are now facing the pandemic COVID 19 and a lot had different reactions towards it,
some faced hunger and committed suicide some were stressed and got sick, and a lot suffered from
finding money to provide their needs.

2. E.B. Tylor described culture as “complex whole” and this definition became the foundation of
understanding society. How can you apply his definition in understanding the Philippine society?

Society is a complex whole that cannot be reduces to a single essence or a single aspects. The
description of society in terms of culture, human nature, institutions is partial. Which cultures are
complexes of learned behavior patterns and perceptions, societies are group of interacting organisms.
For some it refers to an appreciation of good literature music, art and food.

3. One of the goals of Political Science is for you to understand civic skills and humane ideals. In your own
way, how will you use your knowledge in politics to achieve this goal?
 Being knowledgeable or even somehow aware of politics will help us to understand civic skills and
humane ideals, how? simply because by knowing some bunches or ideas about politics we can easily
compare or relate those concepts to civic skills and humane ideals or connect some dots and threads
to understand this two important thing.

4. With the current trends and popular culture today, how do you see a Filipino? Cite specific examples.

In my opinion, the trends in this time or year is about finding and understanding our roots. Filipinos are
known for their kind smiles and for their community. But as we travel further to our roots you can see
that we were heavily colonized by different countries leading us to suffer from their wrath for over 333
or more years. Knowing our history I see Filipinos as strong people we live day by day remembering our
past but looking at it as another day has passed. An example of this is what happened between the
controversial yet viral tattoo of a famous tiktoker Bella Porch, as Korean people expressed their anger
they blamed the whole Philippines by using words such as uneducated short people which sparked
countless of twitter wars, topics such as us being colonized and us helping Koreans with their wars
arrised. Showing that the fact that we are not acknowledging it doesn’t mean we forget it. But in the
end it was solved as the topic was going out of hand both parties have already moved on.

5. Why do you think it was said that politics is about power sharing and power struggle? What are the
manifestations of this statement in our society?
Power sharing is a term used to describe a system of governance in which all major segments of society
are provided a permanent share of power; this system is often contrasted with government vs.
opposition systems in which ruling coalition’s rotate among various social groups over time. Human
beings are biological creatures. We are composed of blood and bones and flesh. At the most basic
level, our genes express themselves in physical characteristics, affecting bodily aspects such as skin
tone and eye color. Yet, human beings are much more than our biology, and this is evident particularly
in the way humans generate, and live within, complex cultures.
WHAT I CAN DO
 1. What did you discover as you do your task?
I discovered that making a brochure is not easy cause you have to research the topic first and asking
some people about the topic.

2. Aside from brochure, what way can you promote your cultural heritage?
Aside from brochure, the way that I can promote our cultural heritage was using social media because
many of us was using social media and it is easy for us to promote it.

3. What cultural values and traditions you emphasized in your output? Why?
The cultural values and traditions emphasized in my output are those aimed at ethics, morals and good
customs.
