Teaching Time No. of Days 1

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

Describe the characteristics of physical and chemical characteristics of matter.
Identify substances using physical and chemical properties
I. OBJECTIVES
compare and contrast physical and chemical property

Enumerate the particle theory of matter.

Explain the properties of

A. Most Essential Learning solids, liquids, and gases
Competencies based on the particle
nature of matter;
B. Enabling Competencies The learners should be able to explain the properties of solids, liquids, and gases based on the particle nature of matter;
II. CONTENT PHASES OF MATTER

Activities
IV. PROCEDURES
What I need to know?
Display images of the molecular distribution of matter which can be found on Chem4Kids or Wikipedia. You can then explain about the way the molecules
for each state differ.

Solids-closely packed and organized molecules/atoms with a stable, definite shape and volume
Liquids-incompressible fluid but touching molecules/atoms with a constant volume, but a shape defined by its container
A. Introduction Gas-compressible fluid and fast-moving molecules/atoms with will both conform to the shape of its container and also expand to fill the container
Plasma-no definite shape or volume, like gas, but they are electrically conductive

What I know?
The properties of matter include any traits that can be measured, such as an object's density, color, mass, volume, length, malleability, melting point,
hardness, odor, temperature, and more.
What’s in?
ACTIVITY: How would you describe yourself so that someone else could identify you? On a separate sheet of paper, write as many physical descriptions
of yourself as you can. Do not put your name on the paper. The teacher will read some of the answers
B. Development

What is it?

In Chemistry we use the word PROPERTY to identify the characteristics of matter.

Discussion about Physical Properties and Chemical Properties of Matter

What’s more?
ACTIVITY: Identify the following pictures it is Physical or Chemical Properties

What I can do?

Explain your answer in front of the class.
C. Engagement

What other enrichment activity can I engage in?

Enumerate some examples of Physical Property and Chemical Property

What I have learned?

Student will play BLUFF or FACT. They will answer and explain the sentence.

D. Assimilation
What I can achieve?

QUIZ( Multiple choice)

V. REFLECTION The students in the notebook, journal or portfolio will write their personal insights about the lesson using the prompts below.
