    Palay is for grain and Maiden significance to Amorsolo’s preference for beauty. A


    lady posing while holding a palay symbolizes the culture of the Filipino. They are
    working hard for their country and for their families to develop. And also wearing
    traditional clothes showing having a Filipino personality like being honest, modesty
    and purity. 
    La Gioconda Italian name of painting means ‘jocund’ or ‘happy’. A pun on the
    feminine form of Lisa’s married name, Giocondo. La Gioconda represented the idea
    of happiness. Leonardo da Vinci made the notion of happiness of the portrait and
    his work makes such as ideal. Mona is a polite address as madonna – similar
    to Madam  or My Lady. And this painting by Leonardo the Vinci is the world’s
    famous painting.

    Between these two paintings, their similarities are they are both women that
    represent or displayed the culture of the Filipino. It displayed as a woman and
    demonstrated their culture and country. Palay Maiden is made in canvas while the
    La Gioconda is made in oil painting on a popular wood panel.
