A. Thai Food
Thai food is famous around the world for its balanced use of herbs and spices to
create fresh and vibrant flavors. Thai dishes are focused around a few staple
ingredients such as rice, coconut, chili, lime, lemongrass, ginger, and garlic.
Although it is very recognizable as a cuisine, Thailand food recipes have some
foreign influences. Thai food is not only delicious; it also has an interesting history.
The base of Thai cuisine developed from Chinese. It was later influenced by Indian,
Malaysian, and European cooking as well. Food in Thailand is tied to culture and
eating all the delicious dishes in Thailand is a great way to get to know the country.
Learning how to cook Thailand food recipes lets you take a bit of Thailand home
with you.

1. THAI Appetizer:

a) Thot Man Khao Phot


Hailing from Thailand, thot man khao phot is a deep-fried corn fritter that is made
with a mixture based on sweet corn kernels, ground pork or shrimp, rice flour, and
eggs. The corn fritters are typically enhanced with Thai red curry paste, kaffir lime
leaves, and light soy sauce, and they often contain sliced yard-long beans. There are
also vegetarian versions of this dish that omit the addition of meat and use tofu
instead.
b) Pla muek yang
Pla muek yang is a Thai-style chargrilled squid dish typically coated in a spicy,
sweet-and-sour sauce consisting of lime juice, fish sauce, garlic, chilis, coriander
roots, and sugar. The dish is often served with peanuts and coriander leaves on top
and is commonly sold at roadside eateries and street stalls across Thailand. It can
be consumed on its own as an appetizer or a main course, or it can be mixed with
salads.

c) Som Tam
Som tam or raw papaya lettuce is a slightly spicy lettuce made from thin slices of
raw papaya. This dish is believed to have originated in Laos, but was popularized
by Thai cuisine, and is commonly served in mainland Southeast Asia. This dish
combines five basic flavors of local cuisine: tamarind, spicy chili, salty, savory
from fish sauce, and sweetness from palm sugar. the ingredients are stirred and
pulverized using a mortar and pestle; The name Lao tam som literally means
"mashed sour", however another special Lao name tam maak hoong literally means
"mashed papaya". In the Khmer language, bok l'hong also means "mashed papaya".
2. THAI SOUP:

a) Tom Yum
Tom Yum is one of the best known Thai dishes, a spicy, sour, and aromatic soup that
is traditionally served with rice. It consists of shallots, lemongrass, fish sauce,
minced fresh ginger or galangal, shrimps, mushrooms, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice,
and minced Thai chili peppers. Usually served as an appetizer, tom yum is
traditionally garnished with coriander leaves on top. Due to its popularity, different
versions of the soup started to appear over the years, such as tom yum gai, with added
chicken, and tom yum talay, with mixed seafood.

b) Khao Sai
A signature dish of Northern Thailand, khao soi is a delicious coconut soup in which
numerous regional influences were combined to create a truly spectacular dish. The
base of the soup is a slightly spicy broth which combines coconut milk and red curry
paste.

The broth is served with flat egg noodles and a choice of meat, which usually
includes chicken, beef, and pork. It is topped with a handful of crisp fried noodles
and chopped cilantro.
c) Khao Sai
Khao tom is a variety of rice soup from Thailand that combines rice with a flavor-
packed broth of herbs and vegetables. The rice is usually cooked, then added to the
broth containing shallots, lemongrass, galangal or ginger, and garlic. The
combination is then cooked until the consistency becomes thick. This rice soup is
enjoyed hot, typically laced with fish sauce, soy sauce, and lime juice, and often
accompanied by small pork balls, shredded chicken, shrimps, fish, or eggs for a more
satisfying meal.

3. THAI Main Course:


a) Kai Phat Met Mamuang Himmaphan
Kai Phat Met Mamuang Himmaphan is a typical Thai food that is similar to chicken
Kung Pao originating from China, this taste has a sour and sweet taste stirred with
flour fried chicken cashews, dried chilies, onion, spring onions and red, yellow, &
green capsicum. All the ingridients are fried.

b) KUNG PHAT PHET


KUNG PHAT PHET This is fettuccini Alfredo from Thailand It consists of a
creamy curry sauce served over egg noodles. This particular dish is named after the
northern Thai city where it is made in Chiang Mai. This dish was usually made for
shrimp but now there are those making it for chicken and other seafood.
c) Beef Panang Curry
Beef Panang Curry is a dish from the white elephant country of Thailand, Thai
cuisine is more or less the same as Indo uses a lot of spices, so it is suitable for our
tongues. For meat, you can use fish, seafood, chicken and beef for those who are
vegetarian is also delicious.

4. THAI Dessert:
a) Coconut ice cream
This culinary is an ice cream served on a coconut shell which is still complete with
coconut eat. The combination of the sweetness of ice cream and the deliciousness
of coconut meat
This coconut ice cream also comes with various toppings, such as peanuts and even
colorful sprinkles. Coconut ice cream which is mostly found in Chatuchak market.
b) Mango Sticky Rice
Mango sticky rice is a combination of ripe mangoes and sticky rice. It looks like an
unsuitable blend, but make no mistake, because this culinary treats a sweet and
delicious taste that fits perfectly. No wonder this dessert is a food that many tourists
hunt. Mango sticky rice is also a must-do dish for the Songkran festival in Thailand.
Following the popularity of the original mango sticky rice, now there is a fusion of
this food. Such as glutinous rice which is given a purple or blue color.

c) Luk Chup
This beautiful culinary delights are very popular among the local population. Luk
chup is a type of candy made from marzipan green beans and then formed into
various fruits or vegetables. Furthermore, it is given food coloring, so that the luk
chup looks more attractive.
Luk chup is a food that is actually only served to Thai aristocrats, but nowadays it
can be easily found in dessert outlets in Bangkok.
5. THAI Baverage
a) O-Liang
Thai Iced Coffee is among the popular Thai Drinks made from ground sugar,
various grains and seeds like cardamom, corn, soybeans, rice, and sesame seeds,
and ground coffea canephora. The beverage is well-known for its aroma and a
smoky note from the high-roasted grains.

b) THAI Dessert: Coco Yen


One of the favorite Thai Drinks is coco yen. People love drinking this while strolling
around, waiting for the bus to go to work, school, or somewhere, and is usually
served in a plastic cup. The combination of bitter and sweet flavor makes the drink
so refreshing which is why many locals and even tourists buy this beverage.

c) THAI Dessert: Cha Yen


Thai tea is usually known as a Thai drink made from Ceylon tea, milk and sugar,
and served hot or cold. It is popular in Southeast Asia and served in many
restaurants serving Thai food. When served cold, it is known as Thai iced tea. You
can find Cha Yen in most restaurants that serve Thai Food and is famous in
Southeast Asia. This refreshing drink consists of ceylon tea, sugar, and milk with
cubes of ice.
