Historical Development of the Philippine Education System
Cognitive:
1. To trace the history of the Philippine Educational System
2. To identify the different aims, methods of instructions, practices and educational agencies
present during those time.
3. To discuss the organization and structure of the Philippine educational system
4. To trace the history of the Philippine Educational System

6. To discuss the organization and structure of the Philippine educational system
7. Discuss the relationships of the three levels of education, namely; elementary, secondary,
and tertiary.
8. Explain the salient features of the curricula of the Philippine Schools
9. Discuss the relevance of these new curricula to the present needs and conditions of the
Philippines and the changes brought about by globalization.

1. Infer the history of how the Philippine Education System became what it is today.

From the pre-Spanish to the present, the educational system of the Philippines has
undergone several stages of development. These stages have affected largely by the changing
political regimes that have controlled the Filipinos. This can be classified according to the following
timeline:
The different forms of education during these periods, varies in their aims, methods,
agencies and legal mandates. (Refer to Presentations uploaded in Canvas under week 15-17)
