1. According to the poem, what led to the creation of the volcano?
Answer: The led volcanic creation is libingan ito Ng dalagang namatay sa isang digmaan.
2. In the second stanza, how is the area around the foot of Mayon being
described?
Answer: describing the owner based on the second stanza that the Ngayon, ano ang tutubo sa
paanan ng Mayon Gayong nagiging malawak na itong sementeryo Ng abo, ng tao. it means that
at the foot of the volcano there are no trees planted there and no people are near the foot of
the volcano so it says it is a cemetery because no one lives

3. What is the persona in the poem waiting for in the third stanza?
Answer: the man referred to as a poem is a tourist looking forward to leaving the volcano's
smoke to see the top of the volcano and to capture it by the camera

Answer: The persona implies his use of image of a graveyard in the second stanza is because
when the Mayon emits its lava, the things on the ground near the Mayon were buried and
there will be nothing left on the ground near of it.

8. The fourth stanza presents an image of the poem which was viewed differently
by two different people – the persona and the unnamed poet, or makata – who
gave a very different interpretation of the image. Defend the choices of both
poets in light of how Mount Mayon is seen in the poem. Discuss why the author
used a security guard as the final image of the poem. What does this seem to
imply about how security personnel are viewed?
Answer: The author use a security the final image of the persona because he may probably
see himself as a good and brave protector. The security guard is always their.

Answer: Because he was shocked when he saw his hometown devastated by the
Volcanic eruption.
4. Why the author did feel embarrassed at being carried?
Answer: he thought the barker thought he was a sissy
5. Discuss what the author means by this line: “But not the poor; they are like
fungi. They don’t die. They morph after a catastrophe.”
Answer: The author means that the poor cannot end just like Fungi that is very
hard to erase. Catastrophe increases the number of poor people.
6. What effect does Wigley’s humorous tone have on an essay? Imagine yourself
in the situations being described. Would you be able to see the humor there?
Answer: To read John Jack Wigley’s “Home of the Ashfall. is to fall under the
stealthy spell of a born storyteller.
 7. Would a more serious tone have added more meaning to the story? Why
or why not?
Answer: it all depends on the person. and some people wouldn't really think so. It
also depends on what the prompt is about. If it's about a grave topic, maybe you
should put a serious tone. If it is about something funny, there is no need for a
serious tone.

8. Does the Kapampangan dialogue confuse or enrich the story? Defend your
answer.
Answer: Kapampangan live in Pampanga. Does kapampangan dialogue confuse or
enrich the story? Their dialogue enriches the story. Because Kapampangan
dialogue can use for maiing stories.
9. In the end, how does the author’s mother composure reflect on Wigley’s own
style of writing about the events in the essay?
Answer: Wigleys portrays strong and determined mothers in most of his texts,
with his mother as a great example. This is reflected in the form of writing that
Wigleys uses to demonstrate the events that make up his essays, showing how
the mother's presence was crucial and showed a composure that must be
evidenced.

1. Why do Filipinos love balikbayan boxes?


Answer: Balikbayan boxes are a symbol of Filipino diaspora and a bridge between
families separated Traditionally, Filipinos working overseas carefully pack and
send a box full of gifts to their families back home.
2. What do you think the boxes symbolize? Why do they seem to be more
important than their content?
Answer: I think the box symbolize as a container. It seems that the box is more
important than the contents its sis because the box is the one that carries the
content. when the box, breaks, all the contents will also break
3. When the narrator notes the Filipino-ness of balikbayan boxes, what does he
feel toward his fellow Filipino?
Answer: shows that we shouldn't be ashamed of being Filipino citizen because
he elevated the good attitude of Filipino towards culture and family even in a
small thing like remembering them through balikbayan boxes.
4. What does the airport symbolize?
Answer: Airport dreams are related to the life's opportunities and people, who
may either come or go from your life. Apart from that, there is much more to add
to it.
5. What do you think is the real message behind “Turban Legend”?
Answer: OFW are working hard in order to buy some popular thing to their love
ones instead there was a good one here in the Philippines.

6. Do you think that Filipinos who work abroad suffer from homesickness? Explain
your answer
Answer: Yes I think that Filipinos who live or work abroad suffer from
homesickness. The main reason for these is their family. The other reason I can
think of is that they miss the people here, the everyday living here is different
from living there every day. For example, is when your mother always cooks
something for your breakfast, but when you are in the other country your mother
can't cook for you. There are many reasons why they suffer from homesickness
and many reasons why they need to go abroad.
7. The author’s luggage is Louis Vuitton. How does that help characterize the
narrator?
Answer: Louis Vuitton is a known brand. It is expensive, and most people can't
afford it. So, that means the author is probably rich.
8. Do you think that when Filipinos are abroad; they are proud of being a Filipino?
Why or why not?
Answer: This depends on your nationality if you are really proud to be a Filipino,
you cannot actually be sometimes proud to your country.
9. What is the significance of the story
Answer: A story exists through characters and the actions they take, but at the
same time it also represents something else. The thematic significance of a story
is a statement the story illustrates as truth
