Abstract

Effect of Solar energy on water quality explains that this research can affect many people for

which the solar energy can be produce in many uses. People who are drinking from the different

types of water might lead their way to bad situation for which the solar energy can also gather

some negative effects but base from our research the solar energy cannot produce water

pollution. The important thing in this study is that the water should be clean so that people who

are drinking will not have bad effects. Otherwise it tells us that when the solar energy affect the

quality of the water it should be always clean. There are some water that have different kinds of

effect to living creatures in any places, which could lead to their deaths since many animals are

already dying and going extinct. Our topic is also about how solar energy affects different kinds

of water quality and their turbidity they are like water pollution. The Effects on solar energy on

water quality is almost like water pollution but a little less harmful to earth since some people

use or get water from wells or rivers which may contain a lot of bacteria since we don’t know

how it is filled with water that we were also able to find out that when the water stays longer in

the sun the turbidity changes. The results are that the color/the turbidity of the water change due

to the temperature of the solar energy. After gathering data’s, therefore we conclude that each

type of water quality should be observe properly so that when people drinks water there will be

no harmed. Also, we make sure that the water should always be clean.
INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

This scientific investigation focuses on determining the effects of solar energy on water

quality. Solar energy systems/power plants do not produce air pollution, water pollution, or

greenhouse gases. It has been observed that using solar energy can have a positive, indirect effect

on the environment when solar energy replaces or reduces the use of other energy sources that

have larger effects on the environment this prompted the researchers to conduct an investigation

about solar energy on water quality because it may affect the environment.

According to the study of Mai, T. it was found out that there are no global warming

emissions associated with generating electricity from solar energy, there are emissions associated

with other stages of the solar life-cycle, including manufacturing, materials transportation,

installation, maintenance, and decommissioning and dismantlement. furthermore, another study

conducted by eia.gov revealed using solar energy can have a positive, indirect effect on the

environment however, some toxic materials and chemicals are used to make photovoltaic (PV)

cells that convert sunlight to electricity. Some solar thermal systems use potentially hazardous

fluids to transfer heat. Leaks of these materials could be harmful to the environment. U.S.

environmental laws regulate the use and disposal of these types of materials. lastly, study was

performed by solaractionalliance.org resulted to the findings of Solar Energy is without question

one of the leading green energy sources as the world moves increasingly away from fossil fuels=

This study is significant to solar energy through water quality because it can help them

make more energy than before and makes the water more cleaner than it is now. The result of

this study may further enhance the advancement in people who are able or willing to help clean
up the waters and use solar energy then using electricity because we use fossil fuel or trees to

make electricity which isn’t good because we are losing a lot of trees and oxygen. which could

give an important impact on the world for we are suffering from pollution and that we might be

able to save the animals who are living in the water for they need a home. We also have to make

sure that we are able to make the experiment right that we are able to use the effect of solar

energy on water quality.

Questions of Investigation

This science investigation aims to find the effect of solar energy to the water quality of the

environment.

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:

1. What is the water quality in the experimental and control group?

Hypothesis

There is no significant difference in water quality when solar energy is used but based on

what we found on books and on our research. It seems that there is an actual difference on

water quality when the effects of solar energy are produced. But there is actually a difference

in solar energy on water quality.

METHODS

Research Design

This study utilized the Experimental design. An experimental design is a planned

experiment setup to test your hypothesis and find out if your hypothesis incorrect (Science

Stuff, 2006). The experimental setup will receive solar energy while the control setup will be

the water quality variable. The independent variable is the brand of water or source of water

used and the dependent variable is how many chemicals are in the water.

Materials

The following are the materials needed for the experiment:

Water PH meter

Solar energy 3 beakers

Procedure:

The following are the step-by-step process in the conduct of experiment:

First, we take a sample and place it in the beaker from the water that wasn’t placed in solar

energy. Then we will place the PH meter on the water that was placed in the Beaker in the

solar energy leaving behind the sample of water and after which we are going to observe

after 5 mins. if the texture and turbidity of the water changed. Lastly, we are going to

compare the result of our experiment.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Table 1.

Water Quality level before and after the solar energy will affect it

Measure Water level (Before) Interpretation Water Level (After) Interpretation

Trial 1 Trial Trial Average Trial 1 Trial Trial Averag
PH level 2 3 Low 2 3 e High
6.1 6.9 7.1 6.7 7.3 7.5 7.4 7.4
Turbidit Low Turbidity Translucent Medium Turbidity Slightly
y Translucent

Presentation Of Results

Table 1 presents the water quality level before and after the solar energy experiment. In

the PH level group, the PH level is 6.1, 6.9, and 7.1 interpreted as low before the solar energy

affects it. After the experiment the PH level is now 7.3, 7.5, and 7.4. While before solar energy

affect the water, the turbidity of it was low and the water’s substance is translucent. Then After

the solar energy affect the water, the turbidity changed and it became medium turbidity which

made the substance translucent.

Discussion of Results

The results are that the color or the turbidity of the water change due to the temperature of the

solar energy. We found out that there are many chemicals in the water that might harm many

people. Also, we were able to notice that the different qualities of water has different uses in the

environment. We found out that we need to be observative when we drink the water.
Conclusion After gathering data’s, therefore we conclude that each type of water quality should

be observe properly so that when people drinks water there will be no harmed. Also, we need to

make sure that the water should always be clean.

Recommendation

We recommend that using of solar energy on the quality of water since it also useful for

the earth and that solar energy is also able to produce. Mineral water is clean than the other two.

Based on the experiment that we have conducted mineral water can be use as drinking water
