    ART APPRECIATION: LESSON 3


    ACTIVITY
    To introduce us to some of our old traditions in creating art forms, here are some
    activities you may choose from:
    1. Tie Dyeing
    2. Weaving
    3. Komiks
    WEAVING

    ANALYSIS
    After doing your chosen activity or activities, answer the following questions:
    1. Describe your experience with your chose activity. What did it remind you of
    in terms of old Philippine art traditions?
     I was happy doing my chosen activity which is called weaving
    because it remind me of how hard weaving is especially for
    those Pilipino women’s who is using their hand to create
    garments. It reminds me of the tradition where women used to
    Habi or weave. In their eyes, weaving was not just a duty for
    women; rather it carried a sense of pride. Weaving established
    a sense of responsibility within participants, as they regarded
    themselves as keepers of the tradition and they contributed to
    society by creating textiles and garments that depicted their
    culture.

    2. What are the other possibilities of the technique of medium? What else can
    you create from it?
     By this we can used the techniques that our ancestors used in
    weaving such as doing it by barehands and natural equipment,
    also with kawang-gawa, patience, effort and relate it with the
    beauty of nature. It is possible to use a different kind of element
    to have another beautiful art as an outcome. It will be unique
    and aesthetic because another medium is used.
    3. Can you name some Filipino artists who used such techniques and
    mediums? How did they innovate the technique?
     First artist pops on my mind is Fernando Amorsolo’s art where
    all of his masterpiece were based on nature with the people of
    it doing a “kawang-gawa”. It is emphasized to the photos I
    chose that is its about the unity of a Filipinos along with their
    strong bond in relationship. Also I can see Napoleon Abueva’s
    masterpiece in sculptures especially where he exhibits the
    importance or our creator through His works and also he
    emphasizes his artwork through sacrifices.
