Precaution

This machine is equipped with safety devices which serve to protect personnel and machine
itself from hazards arising from unforeseen accidents. However, operators must not rely exclu-
sively on these safety devices : they must also become fully familiar with the safety guidelines
presented below to ensure accident-free operation.
This instruction manual and the nameplates attached to the machine cover show only those haz-
ards which DAEWOO can predicts. Be aware that they do not cover all possible hazards.
The following warning indications in our manuals are used to draw attention to information of
particular importance.

1) : Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,

will result in death or serious injury.
2) : Indicates potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious injury.
3) : Indicates potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
may result in minor or moderate injury or damages to the machine.
4) : Indicates comments and items for which care should be exercised.

3. Operation

3.3.5 Tool number designation/input

Tool selection type of this machine is MEMORY RANDOM, therefore the relationship between
tool number and pot number is changed with tool change.
The other type is FIXED ADDRESS, and is compared to each other as follows;
MEMORY RANDOM : T code = Tool number = Pot number
FIXED ADDRESS : T code = Tool number = Pot number
To avoid confusion, we recommend the following tooling method.

Step Operation Location Remark

3. Operation

3.7.5 OT(Over travel) alarm reset

The Over travel alarm state occurs by the OVER TRAVEL CHECK function, as one of NC
functions, when the machine goes over travel range. The process to reset the alarm is as fol-
lows.

Step Operation Location Remark

1 Check OVERAVEL MDI/CRT devices – Check the axis and direction
ALARM message – Operation call lamp lighting
2 Check the axis coordinate – Refer to NC instruction manaul
3 Check the machine state Each axis – Check collision and interference, and
repair
4 Return the axis into travel range in Main OP. panel – Refer to 3.3
JOG or HANDLE feed – Check axis position
5 Reset Alarm state – Refer to 3.7.1

1. Be careful of the direction when the overtraveled axis is returned into travel
range.

Inspection/adjustment/maintenace 3 – 55 VMCTOPE21
3. Operation

3.7.6 Axis emergency stop reset

Operation becomes impossible with MACHINE READY button extinguished, when the emer-
gency stop switch is actuated, just after power on or on other occasion.
At this time, reset the state following the process described below.

3 Step Operation Location Remark

1 Check AXIS MDI/CRT – Check the axis and direction
EMERGENCY STOP devices – Operation call lamp lighting
2 Check the machine state Each axis – Check collision and
interference, and repair

6 Reset Alarm state – Refer to 3.7.1

1. Be careful of the direction and motion when the overtrav-

eled axis is returned into travel range. Severe collision
can be occured.

4.3 Use of large tool

Using of large tool without intention can result in severe demage to ATC because of the interfer-
ence with adjacent tools, therefore, be careful especially to set-up it and program.

Use of large tool 4–6 VMCTOPE21

4. Additional data for operation

The following two methods are recommended when using large tool, and the second one needs
special care in programming.
1) The method to empty the adjacent pots of all tools
To use all tools like as large tool.

Step Operation Remark

1 Load the tools into 1,3,5,7 ··· or – Loading tool
2,4,6,8 ··· pots skipping one pot.
2 Input the loaded tool’s number – Refer to 3.3.5
3 Input “00” as the number of skipped pot.

1. The collision between tools can occurs because of

<Loading example>
program mistake, if “00” to empty pot is not input.
2.The number of tools available=The number of pots / 2

2) The method to use always the same pot for large tool
To load always the large tool into the designated pot which adjacent pots are empty, if large
tool used.
Step Operation Remark
1 Empty the adjacent pots when a – Loading tool
large tool used
2 Input “00” as the number of skipped pot. – Refer to 3.3.5
3 Do program as like the process – Programming
described below when calling the large tool
Cutting with small tool

<Loading example> Large tool call

Tool change
No tool
Cutting with large tool called.

other tool call

Use of large tool 4–7 VMCTOPE21

4. Additional data for operation

1. There is a very strong possibility that a collision

occurs because of program mistake.
2. The collision between tools can occurs because of
program mistake, if “00” to empty pot is not input.
3. The number of tools available
= The number of pots – (2 x the number of lage tools)

- In case of ACE-VC400(DVC400)
It is not nessessary to follow the mentioned above explanation because ACE-VC400 being
equiped with fixed pot type ATC. But, if a tool is existing at spindle or waiting pot, do not load a
tool into the magazine pot numbered same as spindle tool number.
Otherwise the tool in the spindle or waiting pot and the tool in the magazine will make crash
each other.

Use of large tool 4–8 VMCTOPE21

4.4 Use of single point boring tool

When the single point boring tool is loaded, the direction change of the cutting edge in the tool
magazine and the spindle head is decribed as follows.
Please refer to NC instruction manual for the setting of shift direction and quantity of the single
point boring tool.

4.5 Program code

Please refer to NC instruction manual for programming method and other code.

1) T code
As the code to call tool, it is used to move the selected tool in tool magazine to the waiting pot
position.
Example) T03 ;

2) S code
The code to command the spindle speed.
Example) S3000 ;

3) G code
As the main function code for programming and operation, please refer to NC instruction
manual for the detail contents because of the difference among all NCs.
