Discuss the Output Waves of the Voltages (SERIES)

Series Voltage Schematic Graph

Introduction

When a resistor, inductor, and capacitor are connected in series across an alternating supply, the
circuit will now be an Inductive circuit or a Series RLC circuit. Since all these components are
connected in series, the current in each element remains the same, the voltage across all the
elements is different, and the total voltage is equal to the vector sum of voltages across each
component. In the Sinusoidal waveform of the Series RLC circuit, the current is the one that lags, and
voltage is the leading one.

Suppose we know the maximum or peak value of the waveform, using the formula by dividing the
voltage peak to peak value by 2. In that case, various points along the waveform can be calculated,
and a sinusoidal waveform shape can be constructed.

AT SERIES VOLTAGE PR1: V(1)-V(4) RESISTOR

PR1 has a voltage peak to peak value of 7.6364v measuring from the PR1 component to the voltage
reference 1. As we can see on the graph, the maximum voltage value of the resistor is 3.8182V. We
can use the formula given above to check if it is right by dividing the peak to peak value 7.6364V to 2.
The computed value will be 3.8182v. Since the maximum value is 3.8182V, therefore the lowest is
-3.8182V. Also, The voltage r.m.s reading is 2.699V.
AT SERIES VOLTAGE PR3: V(3) CAPACITOR

Meanwhile, In the capacitor, The voltage r.m.s reading is 35.694, and The maximum voltage reading
from the graph is 50.477V. It is the same if we calculate the peak to peak voltage value in the
schematic diagram, which is 100.95V. The voltage passing through the capacitor decreases because
the capacitor acts as an impedance due to the frequency of the supply. The capacitive reactance
produces a voltage drop across each capacitor, reducing the voltage passing through the capacitor.

AT SERIES VOLTAGE PR2: V(4)-V(3) INDUCTOR

At PR2, The peak to peak voltage is 129.97V, we can also calculate the maximum voltage value by the
same formula, and we will get 64.983V as the maximum voltage value across the inductor, and the
lowest will be -64.983V. As we can see from the graph, the voltage passing through the inductor
increases drastically because of the highest value of maximum voltage among the three other
components because a series RLC circuit is an Inductive circuit. , it favors the inductor but affects
other passive components. As you can see in the Resistor and Capacitor, which has a much lower
value than the inductor, however, the voltage decreases in the capacitor but not as much in the resist
