INTRODUCTION

DATO CALVIN KHIU FU SIANG is the one of the Malaysian entrepreneur,


businessman, and investor. He is the chairman of MK Curtain Berhad, the biggest curtain
showroom in Malaysia and he also the chairman of Outstanding Entrepreneurs School for
Entrepreneurs. Dato have many achievement in their lives.

I chose Dato Calvin Khiuk because he is the one of my role model. Next, I like their
way on how run their business from zero to hero. I like their characteristic. One of their
characteristic is their can motivated their self, he put a long hour to get their ventures off
the ground and invest large sum.

Dato Calvin is not came from rich family but he never give up and cath the dreams.
He give in to fear of failure. He also have a vision. The best entrepreneurs have a vision
as to what they want to achieve, how they can accomplish their objectives and whom their
need on their side to reach their goal.

He vision act like compass that points them in the direction og opportunities that
perhaps no one else has found. He also have the ability to translate their vision in way that
staff and investor can understand. I also like her because he have a good personality and
like to help people. I also like he becase he always give a motivation to other people
before their start business. Dato Calvin is one of my idol.

2,0 BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

2.1 Background of the founder

Their name is DATO CALVIN KHIU FU SIAN and he born in 1981 at Muar, Johor,
Malaysia. He married with Datin Moon She Hui. He grew up in poor and single parent
family. He started working at very young age to support his family. He sold watches at
night markets, delivered gas tanks from door to door and others. He completed his
secondary school at age 17 year old and went to Singapore to work as a salesperson in a
textile store, where he learned the inside out of the textile trade while doing sales for the
company. Seven year later, he decided to set up his own business of curtains.

2.2 Background of the business

In 2000, he started the MK Curtain with zero capital and two employees. Within a
year of its inception, MK curtain opened the second branch and it also have six outlet in
Negeri Sembilan followed this in the following year.in 2008, he initiated a tailoring unit
that employed 30 pair of hand.the company spend RM 200 000.00 anually into skill
development training programme. In 2016, he went to establish Outstanding

Entrepreneurs School for entrepreneurs with the vision to provide training and teaching
practical aspect of becoming an entrepreneur.

2.3 Product or service

At the MK Curtain Berhad their sell :

 Curtain
 Blinds
 Bed sheets
 Home decoration
 Carpets
 Wallpaper
 Window film
 Also provide service for home decoration

2.4 Other relevant information

DATO Calvin get many awards such as the “Philantropist Entrepreneur” in Beijing,China. He
also get the “World excellent young leader”in Hong Kong, and many mores arward.

3.0 Entrepreneurial Characteristic

The entrepreneur characteristic is self motivation. One of the most important traits of
entrepreneurs is self-motivation. When you want to succeed, you need to be able to push
yourself. You aren’t answerable to anyone else as an entrepreneur, and that sometimes means
that it’s hard to get moving without anyone to make you. You need to be dedicated to your
plan and keep moving forward

Next, understand what to offer. As an entrepreneur, you need to know what you offer,
and how it fits into the market. Whether it’s a product or a service, you need to know where
you fit in. That means you need to know when it’s time to tweak things a little bit. This also

includes knowing whether you are high end, middle of the road or bargain. Being able to
position yourself and then adjust as needed is an important part of entrepreneurship.

He also brave to take the risk. Successful entrepreneurs know that sometimes it’s
important to take risks. Playing it safe almost never leads to success as a business owner. It’s
not about taking just any risk, though. Understanding calculated risks that are more likely to
pay off is an important part of being an entrepreneur. You’ll need to be willing to take a few
risks to succeed.

Besides, he also flexibility. To a certain degree, you need to be flexible as an


entrepreneur. Be willing to change as needed. Stay on top of your industry and be ready to
adopt changes in processes and product as they are needed. Sometimes, you also need
flexibility in your thinking. This is an essential part of problem-solving. You want to be able
find unique and effective solutions to issues.

Lastly, DATO Calvin have a passion. successful entrepreneurs are passionate. They
feel deeply about their product or service or mission. Passion is what will help you find
motivation when you are discouraged and it will drive your forward. Passion is fuel for
successful entrepreneurship. If you find yourself losing your passion, that might be the clue
that it’s time to move on to something else (that stokes your passion). There are many serial
entrepreneurs that create successful businesses, sell them, and then create something else.

5.0 CONCLUSION

In the conclusion, Dato Calvin was one of the best businessman in Malaysia. We all can see
their performance with the awarded he gets. He also use a high quality material to make a
curtain. Now days, he company has a biggest curtain showroom in Malaysia. We should get
inspiration from he because he start from zero and finally become a hero.
