The Chinese Alphabet Zhu Yin and Pin Yin 

Zhu Yin Fu Hao

It is know as Bo Po Mo Fo (BPMF) is the traditional phonetic system and is not using


the Romanization system because it does not use the Roman Alphabet a,b,c etc.

Han Yu Pin Yin 

It is the modern alphabet that uses the Romanisation system to learn Mandarin. It
translate and transcribe the sounds and is used as phonetics using the western
alphabet.     It was design to teach and help foreign language learners to easily study
Mandarin.

Chinese Calligraphy/

The art of writing Chinese characters, is an art that was developed during
the  evolution of the Chinese written language. There are four artistic features of the
Chinese calligraphy- structure, strength, rhythm, and spirit.

Its not a merely a writing skill, but becomes a means to perfect one’s moral quality.
There are numerous styles, or scripts, in which Chinese characters can be written,
deriving from the various calligraphic and historical models.

Z  Pronounced “dz"
ZH pronounced similar to an English “J”
Q similar to an English “CH” but curling the tongue 
X similar to an English “SH” but curling the tongue 
C Pronounced “TS"
Chi the ending “i” is pronounced “err”
Shi the ending “i” is pronounced “err”
Zhi the ending “i” is pronounced “err”
e.g.

I want to buy a newspaper.


Wǒ yào mǎi bàozhǐ.

(Woh yow my bow-jr) 我要买报纸。

What do you want to eat?

Nǐ xiǎng chī shénme?

(Nee she-ahng chr shern-mo) 你想吃什么?

Chinese Tone Marks

Every Chinese character has its corresponding Pinyin and each pinyin has a specific
tone. The Tone marks are used to distinguish and differentiate each Chinese
character. Chinese characters with exact pronunciation of pinyin with different tone
marks gives different meaning.

Pinyin sound 

Chinese syllables consist of an initial sound and a final sound. Some syllables have no
initial sound. It is present however, it is always a consonant. The final sound always
starts with the vowel. in the following table, all Chinese syllables are listed (in rows
ordered by the finals sound and in columns ordered by the initials sound)

Pinyin
tones 
—1st highly and level tone marking corresponds to a flat, yet high vocal pitch
tone sound. It is spoken at the top of your vocal range
/ 2nd rising tone begins  at the middle of your voice and rises quickly to the top of
tone your vocal range 
v 3rd falling-then-rising tone begins at the middle of your voice, dips down to the
tone bottom of your vocal range and then rises at the end 
\4th tone falling tone begins at the top of your vocal range and ends at its bottom in a
forceful or scolding manner
Chinese Numbers/ Shu zi

Cardinal Numbers/ Ji shu

 Chinese numbers are similar with Western numbers. However, 11-100 English


and Chinese numbers differ from sound changes.

In Chinese, whole numbers follow the format


-Number 11-99 are a combination from number 1-10

-In numbers 11-19 omit the initial — yi or number 1 (one), because + (shi) is already
the number 10 (ten). e.g. 11 (ELEVEN) +- Shi Yi

If the digit 2 is part of another number, big or small, you can read it as 二 (èr).
