• if there's still a room available
• where the pool is
• if there is free breakfast
• what fun things you can do in the hotel

I can order at a restaurant.
Let's think!
1. Do you and your family or friends have a
favorite restaurant? How do you order food?
2. What are the important things to remember
when ordering food at a restaurant?

Sample Dialogue

Marshanda and Dewati are on a holiday trip in Hong Kong. They

have just arrived at a restaurant and are ready to order.

Waiter: Are you ready to order, sir?

Marshanda: Yes. I'll have the watermelon salad for starters
and my wife would like tomato soup.
Waiter: That is one watermelon salad and one
tomato soup. What would you like for the main course?
Marshanda: I'll have the steak for main course and my wife
would like the baked salmon with green beans.
Waiter: I'm afraid our salmon is not available
today.
Dewati: What else do you recommend?
Waiter: The sweet and sour fish is very good.
Dewati: OK. I’ll have that. Do you have any
coleslaw?
Waiter: Yes, we do, ma'am.
Marshanda: I'll have that, too.
Waiter: Certainly. Would you like something to drink?
Marshanda: Yes, please. May I see the wine list?
Waiter: Certainly. Here you are.
Marshanda: A bottle of Chablis ‘99, please.
Waiter: Excellent choice! Will that be all sir?
Marshanda: Yes, that’s it. Thank you!
