Salesmanship Reflection

Salesmanship was one of the most interesting causes that I took this semester. The

course gave me an opportunity to learn the dynamics of marketing and to apply the

knowledge I had gained in class to write papers to reflect the way effective marketing can be

done in the real world. The class allowed me to interact with other students in groups, which

enhanced my learning experience a great deal. When I joined this class, I knew that it would

teach me a lot about marketing as a critical part of business operations. However, being an

online class, I did not know it would be so fun. One of the things that appealed to me a great

deal in this course is the attributes of successful salespeople. These attributes include self-

discipline, a hunger for success, good communication skills, passion, and a willingness to

learn. From what I know, these skills are not only necessary for good salesmen, they are

necessary for all people in all fields, even kids at kindergarten. Possessing such skills is very

important in success. They can be called the “ingredients of success.”

The course taught me how these attributes could be aligned with one’s personal

dispositions to ensure that the right decisions are made whenever the salesperson is required

to make decisions. Being a Business Administration major, it is absolutely necessary for me

to learn about the rigors of marketing because business success is hinged on the success of its

marketing campaigns. Therefore, this class has taught me skills that will be of much use to me

in my business career. In all the places I have worked, self-discipline and good

communication skills are very important to carry out one’s tasks well and interact well with

other workers and seniors. Hunger for success is what drives one towards the goals they want

to achieve. The assignments that we did in this course are one of the things that contributed to

my positive experience in the class. Most of them were done in groups. They were important

learning points as they helped me understand the important things in salesmanship. After

submitting every assignment, the teacher would provide feedback that identified my areas of

strength and weakness and the things that I could do to improve. This feedback was useful to

me as it helped me identify my mistakes and learn from them. Overall, the course was a

success and I feel that the time I spent studying for this class was worth it.
