IV. EXPLORE (TASKS/ACTIVITIES)

1.List the weaknesses of the Filipino character, explain each in a sentence.

CHARACTER EXPLANATION
Extreme Personalism Filipinos view the world in terms of personal
relationships and the extent to which one is
able to personally relate things and people
determines the recognition of their existence
and the value given to them.
Extreme Family Centeredness Excessive concern for family can be seen in the
use of one’s office and power as a means of
promoting the interest of the family, patronage
and political dynasties, and in the protection of
erring family members. It results a lack of
concern for the common good and acts as a
block to national consciousness.

Lack of Discipline We have an aversion for following strictly a set

of procedures and this results in lack of
standardization and quality control. We are
impatient and unable to delay gratification or
reward, resulting in the use of short-cuts, in
skirting the rules and in foolhardiness.
Passivity and Lack of Initiative Filipinos are generally passive and lacking in
initiative. There is strong reliance on others
(e.g., leaders, government) to do things for us
related to our need for a strong authority.
Filipinos tend to be complacent and there
rarely is a sense of urgency about any problem.
There is high tolerance for inefficiency, poor
service and even violations of one’s basic rights.
In many ways, it can be said that the Filipino is
too patient and long suffering

2.List the strength of the Filipino then in a phrase or clause explain when that strength becomes a
weakness.

STRENGTH IT BECOMES WEAKNESS WHEN

Family Orientation Political dynasty.
Joy and Humor Serious problems are not taken seriously.
Pakikipagkapwa-tao They become passive and rely on others.
Faith and Religiosity It stops and limit their Filipino’s to grow.

3.List down at least 5 global issues most applicable to the Philippines.

Global issue Philippine law meant to Specific provision of the law

address the problem
Alarming Waste Problem Ecological Solid Waste RA 9003 declares the policy of the state
Management Act or the in adopting a systematic,
