Preliminary Activities

Good morning class Good morning ma’am.

Please stand up for our prayer. (Students praying)

Amen.
Please be seated.

How are you class? We are good Ma’am.

Who is absent? None Ma’am.

I gave you an assignment last meeting Yes ma’am!
right?

Okay please pass your papers in front

.
What is our assignment all about? Newton’s 2nd Law of
Motion ma’am!
Review of Past Lesson The Law of Acceleration

Thank you, our discussion last meeting

was about Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion or the
Law of Acceleration.

Do you have any questions regarding None Ma’am.

our last topic?

Are you ready to learn about the Newton’s 3 rd Yes ma’am!

Law of Motion?

Motivation
But before we start, I’ll show you a picture. It’s a bird ma’am
What’s the picture?

Yes, that’s a bird. But have you ever wondered Yes ma’am!
how birds can fly?
Do you want to know how? Yes ma’am!

Today we will know the science between how

do birds fly. Today we will discuss the
Newton’s 3rd Law of motion the Law of
Interaction.

Lesson Proper
Okay, before we start our lesson for today!
Let us read first our objective this morning.
(Presentation of objective)

Objective:
At the end of the lesson the learners
will be able to:
 Infer that when a body
exerts a force on another,
an equal amount of force
is exerted back on it
 Identify the two forces
acting on Law of
Interaction
 Illustrate the Law of
Interaction
Discussion

What happens if you kick a chair, what

happens to your foot? Yes ma’am!
Will you be hurt?
Because i applied a force
Why do you think so? ma’am to the chair.

That’s right, it explains the Law of Interaction

which states that “For every action there is an
equal and opposite reaction.”
For every force acting on
What does it mean? an object, there is an

opposite direction. Right
now, gravity is pulling you
down in your seat, but
Newton’s Third Law says
your seat is pushing up
against you.This is why
you are not moving.
Gravity is pulling you
down, and your seat is
pushing you up.

Okay thank you. It says that right now you are

being pulled by the gravity downward, and
your seat is pushing you upward.

What have you observe with the direction? They are opposite ma’am.
That’s right.

Always remember the word Equal and

Opposite in the 3rd Law

Newton’s third law describes the relationship

between two forces in an interaction.
 One force is called the action
force.
 The other force is called the
reaction force.
 Neither force exists without the
other.
 They are equal in strength and
opposite in direction.
 They occur at the same time
(simultaneously).
For you to understand more, i will give you
examples.
You slide in the

but the wall pushed back
on you with equal and
opposite force.

toe on a rock? exerts an equal force back
on your toe. The harder
you hit your toe against it,
the more force the rock
exerts back on your toe
(and the more your toe
hurts).

I have mentioned earlier Newton’s third law

describes the relationship between two forces
in an interaction. “Inter” means between, so
the forces must come in pairs.
Ma’am the Action force
What are these two forces? and the Reaction force

Okay, that’s right!

Now let us identify the action-reaction forces in
a certain situation.

In order to identify the action-reaction forces,

first identify the interacting objects A and B,
and if the action is A on B, the reaction is B on
A.
Action: Object A exerts a
The action and reaction forces are stated in force on object B.
the form: Reaction: Object B exerts
Kindly read Mr. Mark a force on object A.

Thank you.
Let us have examples

(the teacher is showing examples to the

students)

Now, your turn! I have here an example and

then you will identify the action-reaction force.
Ma’am the road pushes
First situation, there is a car and a road, the the tire.
action force is the tire pushes the road, what is
the reaction force?

Very good!

Next, the ball and the earth, the action force is hands)
the reaction force is?

Yes, Ms. Anna? Ma’am the reaction force

is the ball pulls the Earth.
Terrific!
(students raising their
And we have the last situation, a rocket and a hands)
gas, the action force is the rocket pushes the
gas and the reaction force is?
Ma’am the reaction force
Yes, Ms. Bea? is the gas pushes the
rocket.

Very good! None ma’am!

Do you have any questions so far?
To understand further our discussion this
morning, we will have an activity.

Activity
I have given you each of you earlier a shape,
there’s circle, star, triangle and square. That
will represent as you group.

For our activity this morning, we will make a

Rocket balloon.
I have here the materials,
balloon, tape, straw, tape measure, stopwatch

For the procedure,

1. Blow up the balloon half way with air
and hold the open end shut. Record
balloons length.
2. Thread the string through the drinking
straw. Tape the long side of the balloon
along the length of the straw.
3. Hold the balloon-straw system at one
end of the string, closest to the wall.
4. Release the balloon opening. Record
your observations in data table I.
5. Blow up the balloon and repeat steps 3
and 4 for a total of three trials.
6. Now blow up the balloon full of air,
without popping it, and fill out the data
table II. Record the balloons length.

After performing the experiment answer

the questions in your activity sheet.

And then choose a representative to present

your answers here in front. Did you get me?

I will grade your presentation based on this

rubric
Rubrics:
Content: 15 points
Time management: 10 points
Teamwork: 5 points
Total 30 points

This activity is good for 15 minutes.First group

to finish will get the 10 points for the Time
management.
Okay, you can now go to your respective
groups. (students are doing the
activity)
You can start now.

(after 15 minutes)

In a count of 5 paste your outputs in front.

Let us now check your work. (Group 1 presents their

Presentation of answers answers)
Group 1

Very good! Let’s give group 1 a

fireworks clap. (Group 2 presents their
answers)
Group 2

Good job group 2. Let’s give group 2 (Group 3 presents their

a venus raj clap. answers)

Group 3

Very good group 3, let’s give group 3

a nanaydionesia clap.

(Group 4 presents their

Group 4
answers)
Nice work group 4, let’s give group 4
a let’s go clap!

Application
Now, back to my question earlier, how do you
think birds can fly?

We can now answer that question.

Birds depend on the Newton’s 3rd law of
motion. Why?
Because as the birds push down on the air
with their wings, the air pushes their wings up
and gives them lift.

The wings of the bird of a bird push air

downwards. In return, the air reacts by pushing
the bird upwards.

Action-reaction force pairs make it possible for

birds to fly.

E. Generalization Ma’am Law of Interaction

Who can tell me what is Law of interaction all states that For every action
about? there is an equal and
opposite reaction.

Ma’am the action force

Very good! What are the two forces acting on and the reaction force
Law of Interaction? ma’am!

Very good!

IV. Evaluation
1. All forces result because of ____________________________ between
objects. (2 pts)
2. Forces come in pairs. What are these pairs called? (3 pts)
3. In the diagrams below the action forces have been labeled with arrows. In
each diagram (5 pts each)
label the reaction forces with arrows.

V. Assignment
On the drawing below draw at least 5 force pairs.
