ELEVATOR CONTROL PANEL'S MANUAL

DIGITROL AND DYNATECH MODELS

"Including setup appendix"

After installing panel on drive, do electrical connections by considering safety rules

as bellow:

1. Supply Line Connections

To prevent electric shock while connecting supply lines, before any thing else be
assured of connection between the panel's earth (terminal No.100) and building's
earth. After disconnecting main power switch, first connect R, S, T, MP, S2
connection lines from the board side (figure No.1) then connect that to machine
room's control panel.
Note: choose supply wires diameter (R, S,T and earth lines) according to motor power

2. Motor Connections

After connecting motor earth to board earth's plate with a suitable cable, make
connections between motor power lines (slow and fast speed) with wires as thick as
supply lines, as figure No.2. In this figure you see mechanical brake, heat alarm
sensor (FTO) and Fan motor's Thermic Contact (FTC) connections.

Note:
- Before starting install operations, study important notes about installing and make
connections according to figure No. 3. In addition, pay attention to bellow notes:

- For double speed motors used in systems with inverter, connect U2, V2 & W2
terminals in the board only to terminals with same names on the motor which shows
high speed; and against normal double speed applications, do not connect any line to
low speed terminals on the motor.

- Connect brake resistor to B1 & B2 terminals in the board according to figure No.3;
be assured that these lines has no connection with earth.

3. First Installation

If the target of installing project is reconstruction and exchanging the board, you don't
need First installation and you can put all sensors in circuit in one stage without First
installation.
But in new projects, an expert installer by considering safety notes, can bypass some
of sensors & safety contact terminals to install them. Pay attention by bypassing these
terminals you are making some of elevator's safety features passive and it can be so
dangerous. Therefore just in a very few cases and by complete protections you can do
Page 2
ELEVATOR CONTROL PANEL'S MANUAL [ARIAN ASANSOR CO.]

these operations. It is clear that after installation you should omit these bridges and
recover safety features. Considering the risk of this stage, you should bring the
bridges into view. For example you can use long wires (at least 1 meter) with different
colors. For first installing you should bypass (temporal connection) bellow items:

3-1- Connect CA1 & CA2 terminals to terminal No, 51. In this situation that we
have omitted tow mentioned sensors, it's possible that the cabin clashes the well
ceiling in inspection mode, or floor of the well in recognition mode; so be careful
about these dangerous conditions.

3-2- Set the board inspection's key (on main board) on inspection mode and connect
CRV terminals to terminal No, 51. Be careful that in these situations, the board
doesn't exit from inspection mode; and only moves the cabin for install operations by
inspection key on the board.

3-3- Safety circuit components becomes series in different groups. First group sets
between terminals No, 72 and 110 and other groups connect to other terminals in
safety circuit by starting from terminal No, 70.

4. Possible Errors After First Turn On:

4-1- CA1 & CAn ERROR:

this error happens because of synchronous disconnection of CA1 and CAn, which will
be solved by placing emergency slow down sensors CA1 & CAn in circuit or
temporarily bypassing them to terminal No,51.

4-2- MRV & CRV ERROR:

This error indicates activeness of both cabin and board inspection inputs. In this
situation, by saving inspection mode on board, set inspection key on the cabin in
normal mode or if necessary ,you can temporarily connect CRV terminal to terminal
No,51. Now, inspection mode on the cabin becomes passive and you should care that
for preventing unwanted motions, you should maintain inspection mode on the board.

4-3- MAIN ERROR:

If FGR glass fuse be intact, it's enough to connect FTO terminal circuit as figure No,
2. If making connection with FTO motor is impossible, temporarily connect board
FTO terminal to terminal No.100.

4-4- EXTERNAL FAULT:

This fault is because of board accessories like motor safe or speed control drive.

Page 3
ELEVATOR CONTROL PANEL'S MANUAL [ARIAN ASANSOR CO.]

In the case of boards containing motor safe, this error is because of one phase
disconnection or phase reverse. In this situation you should find and solve the main
faults by means of motor safe catalog.
In the case of boards with inverter, this fault is because of inverter and for solving this
problem you should call our after sale's services Dep.

4-5- SAFETY CIRCUIT ERROR:

If this error (safety circuit incompleteness) happens in inspection mode with up and
down pushbuttons, if necessary you can apply items in the 3-3 clause.

Note:
Be careful that you shouldn't connect terminal No, 72 to No, 51 or other terminals
instead of No,110. Because in this situation the contactors become active and it shows
Contactor Error.

4-6- Motor Motion reverse received order:

If after order operation in inspection mode, motor moves in reverse direction, you
should exchange tow power lines. For example the lines which end to V1, W1
terminals (V, W in motors with inverter) should be exchanged.

5. Making Other Connections:

After doing above process and making cabin able to move in inspection mode, it's
better to operate other stages as bellow by considering the importance of safety and
protection:

Emergency slowdown

Figure No.4

5-1- Emergency slow down CA1 & CAn:

The connections of these slowdown sensors are as figure No, 4. Tow schalter switches
(closed type or N.C.) are installed on top and bottom of elevator's well, the way that

Page 4
ELEVATOR CONTROL PANEL'S MANUAL [ARIAN ASANSOR CO.]

the passed distance by car, from the point that CA1 & CAn have started their
operation (collision of CA1 & CAn switches with top of the cabin) to the end of cabin
motion in front of destination floor (1CF stop sensor operation) is equal to slowdown
distance by CF3 sensor in medium floors. For more information about CF3 slowdown
distance refer to table 1.

5-2- Safety sensors in the well and machine room:

These connections contain contact governor, hatch micro switch for accessing to well
through machine room, top and bottom schalter, putley sheave's micro switch of
governor and the well's bottom key and it places in series mode between terminals
No. 90 and 110. (figure No.5)

5-3- Safety circuit on the board:

These connections contain brake resistor contact (parachut) ,rescue hatch's micro
switch on the cabin and series of safety circuit in inspection box including emergency
stop key and RUN key.(figure No.5)

5-4-The Doors Circuit:

Door's circuit contains cabin door's contact and contact and lock of floor's door. The
contact of floor's door should rest in series format between terminals No,71 and 66;
the contact of cabin's door places between terminals No.66 and 69; and contact of
lock of floor's doors rest between terminals 68 and 69 in series format. Figure No. 5
shows contacts of Semiautomatic door. If the door be automatic, terminals 71 and 66,
and if the door be simple terminals 66 and 69 should be connected to each other.
For more information about connections in the door control panel please refer to its
special map.

5-5- Slowdown sensors (GF3) and floors stop (1CF):

Both of these sensors are closed type (N.C.). Stop sensor should connect to 1CF
terminal and slowdown sensor should connect to CF3 terminal. If you use magnetic
sensors with magnet, you should do physical and electronic installation as figure No,
6. This figure refers to magnetic sensors containing tape magnet, if you are using
other kind of these sensors please refer to its manual. Slowdown distance in middle
floors is as bellow table. (for more information please refer to page 7 and 8 of
appendix).

Note 1: In first and last floors, that CA1 and CAn sensors are located as above table,
Slowdown sensors should operate approximately 20cm before CA1 and CAn (actually
normal slowdown in first and last floors should start 20cm before others).

Note 2: Slowdown distance in above table refers to the distance that car passes after
start of Slowdown moment (CF3 disconnection) until reaching to target floor's level
(1CF disconnection)

7. EC1 And ECn Sensors:

These sensors that are similar to CA1 and CAn, are closed type (N.C) and both are
installed in the last stage of installing operation.
In double speed motors they act as high speed direct schalter and disconnect the
power of low speed contactor of motor. But in systems containing inverter with speed
of (1.6 m/s) we use them for recognizing the inspection territory of low speed in that
elevator.
Active range of these sensors in direction to the last floors, for double speed systems
should be 20cm and for 1.6 m/s systems with inverter should be 130cm.
